To me that sounds like "How does a low income affect health from childhood to old age?" i.e. price of healthy vs unhealthy food, or reading it again, what are the healthcare provisions in poorer areas vs more affluent areas, are people aware the services exist? average number of persons per GP? Are people in poorer areas less likely to be well educated about health problems in general? Does income in any way relate to frequency of GP visits? Also the question of available places in elderly care homes vs privately funded care homes?
You could maybe pick a poor area somewhere in the UK and compare it with an affluent area 10 miles away or so?
Just thinking aloud really, I did health and social care GNVQ back in 1994-6
Brilliant pic!
Thanks kadison
I'm still struggling to find actual statistics to quote. Most councils annual expenditure isn't broken down enough to use.
I'm doing a comparison of two similar seaside towns Torquay and Bournemouth. Wages in Torquay being a lot lower I think. As far as I've sussed so far, drugs are a bigger problem in Torquay. 3 dedicated NHS rehab units rather than 1 in Bournemouth.
Both are retirement areas with a higher than average percentage of the population over 65. I've assumed that with Torbay being less affluent there will be a greater demand for Govt funded care of the elderly...where people haven't madse provisions for their own Nursing care should the need arise.
Because of the drugs problems there will be more children on the at risk register needing social workers etc etc.....
I know there a few regulars who are from Dorset. Any info if you are around tonight or pointers to where I can get some statistics or reports to quote, I would be eternally grateful. My husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.0 -

Have we had anymore info the £1 clothes sale?
I know a few have reported getting stuff for £1, but I seem to remember someone saying that it should start accross the board tomorrow?
Or did I just imagine that, which is a distinct possibilty :rotfl:...those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

Am sure there is a section on health and social care in there so let me know if you need some references or studies
Thanks for the kind offer....but it's my daughter who's studying at Plymouth Uni for a degree in Health and Social Care.
She got 3 distinctions in her HND course ,so why she's flapping I don't know....but she's quite poorly today so I said I'd help her with the research and she can type it up in Uni speak!!
Just got to write about how the inequality of earnings affects people and in turn impacts on the provision of govt services for different age groups.
Sounds easy enough but I think they will want evidence to back up my waffle!!!My husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.0
