To me that sounds like "How does a low income affect health from childhood to old age?" i.e. price of healthy vs unhealthy food, or reading it again, what are the healthcare provisions in poorer areas vs more affluent areas, are people aware the services exist? average number of persons per GP? Are people in poorer areas less likely to be well educated about health problems in general? Does income in any way relate to frequency of GP visits? Also the question of available places in elderly care homes vs privately funded care homes?

You could maybe pick a poor area somewhere in the UK and compare it with an affluent area 10 miles away or so?

Just thinking aloud really, I did health and social care GNVQ back in 1994-6 :o

    Brilliant pic!

kadison has some really good ideas...what subject is that you are studying? There will be some really useful stuff in haralambos and holborn "Sociology themes and perspectives", its a hugeee book and costs about £20 maybe more:eek: but got me through my a-levels with a B:cool:
Am sure there is a section on health and social care in there so let me know if you need some references or studies

  • Evening all

    Been busy catching up ;)

Seen a few people mention thy got no price check voucher for thurday, well the one I put in came back 'we can't find your reciept details':think: Strange. And now I can't find the bloomin' reciept

Managed to get the receipt I seen the other day, it was stil in the same trolley only this time there was no one in the way  so 39 points. And the DD spotted another one :D She just likes them so she can put them in her pock (pocket lol) so that was 26 points as well. Both have been duly sent to the price checker as well ;)

  • I saw a lot of Denby sets yesterday with a big A4 sign saying that they were half price - £85.00 down to £42.50.

I know in the past Cool Blue has gone thorough at £85.00 so took a chance on it and it did again. I went to CS and told them I had been over charged. The CS lady called the Manager who apologised for the error and said he would authorise my refund of £42.50 as although the offer should have only applied to Black Pepper, he would honour the price on the sheet - "as £42.50 was obviously the price you were happy to pay when you picked it up."

I said that I had been happy to pay that at that time but I had now just seen the 'If things don't add up...' sign so thought that should apply.

In the end he gave in and refunded the £85.00 so it really pays to stand your ground. The CS lady laughed and said "I'm glad you stood up for yourself" - I think some of them get fed up with Management trying to wheedle their way out of following company policy.

If I see another ruddy crockery set on DTD I think I'll hold an impromptu Greek party! :D

I think Sunday evening is an anti-climax....you have been looking forward to the week-end and having time to do what you want then it comes and goes so quickly. Sunday night you know you have to be up early and routine of the week starts over ...

Agreed, it's a natural inclination for many BUT you end up training your brain to feel this way. Think about when you're on holiday, or over Xmas, Sunday doesn't feel like this does it? We all get into these negative spirals, it just takes a little mindfulness to jump out of the loop. Not saying it's easy, but even being aware of it helps.

    Onwards and upwards.

Just had my husband fly over me as I was cutting the grass!!
His friend has his own plane so they've gone out for a jolly in it this afternoon!!
I guessed it was them as it circled over our house so I was in the middle of the lawn waving like mad!!
He phoned to say he'd seen me and had had a go at flying it.

Talk about boys and toys....they've been out greenlaning this morning on their motorbikes and now swanning around in a plane !

I've gone wrong somewhere...bloomin' muggins mowing the lawn, and now having to help my daughter with a uni assignment as she's poorly.

Does anyone know anything about the "dynamics of income inequalities in Britain and the implications for health and social care setting in relation to age"......cos I'm stuffed if I do!!

Love that sounds just like Mr Lala, he loves his toys:)
Had a good shop today :))))))

Can someone put a bottle of chardonnay to chill for me please in the HC bar, need a glass or two after the week I have had. Got a few things that need doing first and hope to pop back later for the gossip. Around the time when Happy starts posting. :rotfl:

Might take to posting my finds then too. :D (sorry could not resist that one after someones very rude comment!)

Actually thinking about it I often do report back then as too busy in the day to post on here, and if I'm round at mum's there is no internet. Think I may have to look into that though if things get any worse. ;)

Oh I was going to say that!

I do find that most of the bargains are posted in the evenings/ at night as that's when most of us have time to log in and post... :T

exept for some lucky b:ps who can stay at the PC all day and in between Ts trips :p:p:p

(going back to naughty step) :o

oh and thanks for all the ink tips :) I think I'll just get the cheap kits to refill it myself and if the offer that caz mentioned is on again I'll get that as well, thanks caz :T off to set it up now
