Is this a euphemism I don't understand? :p Oh, a quick google and I see what you mean.

No, we don't have John Lewis on my neck of the woods, but it does look startlingly similar. Does the bedside cabinet have a secret compartment that slides out?

Yes, there is, I keep my passport and what not in it.

There are variations on the Normandie range that you can get but I think the Normandie was by far the nicer looking. I've only got one bedside cabinet. I meant to go back and get another one and a tallboy but by the time I pulled me finger out and went to do it the range had been discontinued.:(

G'night 3dogs. We'll all collectively watch over you as you sleep. :)

That is so sweet FK, what a lovely image :A and it must have worked coz I had a really good night's sleep ;)

Mr 3Dogs was still under the influence of the morphine today, so, although we talked, he kept dozing off. Nothing to report except that he is drinking water today after just having sips so far, and for the first time, he could have something off the drinks trolley - he was offered black tea, black coffee or cocoa and had a cup of black tea which he said was wonderful and the best drink he'd ever had  I don't know when he can move onto clear soup, milk in drinks, ice cream, yoghurts, etc.

After an hour and a half, he told me to get off home as he would just be sleeping, and he has asked me to tell friends not to visit when he is a drowsy as this. I got some booklets about Macmillan support as well as one about Chemo - it makes me feel better to have information about what he/I/we are facing - knowledge comforts me :o

When I got home I rang his eldest son but not in and I did not want to tell him about his Dad on his mobile as he could be anywhere, so I rang Mr 3Dogs' brother K who broke down so it was very difficult. He was going to get ready straight away and go over to tell their Dad and sister, then Mr 3Dogs' younger son. His Dad rang me but was very upset, naturally, and I spoke to his sister too who was distraught. I have promised to text with general updates but to ring is any further news or changes. His Dad is too ill to come down and his brother K offered but I said to wait until we had more news on prognosis and treatment.

I then nipped round to my disabled friend's for a cuppa and a chat, and when I got back there was a message from Mr 3Dogs' DS2, so I rang him back. He is determined to come down with his brother DS1 during the week, so he is going to sort this out. I told him I would keep him informed by text and/or phone. He was concerned whether I was ok, so I told him I have 'my block wall up' and just carrying on as normal, for now. It is the telling people that nearly breaks down the wall though, that is tough :(

Keeping you all informed helps me, by writing it down, and all the advice and support I recieve is so much appreciated, so I hope you don't mind or think that it is cluttering up the thread :o:o

Going to do a bit of catching up now

Well, to save electricity, you could:

    A. Put them on a quick wash.
    B. Make sure you have a full load of "darks" when you wash them
    C. Take them to your mother's/sister's and bung them in their machine when they are not looking
    D. Take them to the river and bash them about on the rocks

Darks? I just bung everything in together. My clothes are that old there is no colour left in them to run.:rotfl:

I was at 30* and on the quick wash cycle.

If only I could take them to mums but with her being on a well and limited water during the summer they keep threatening to bring their laundry through to mine.:eek:

Ooh I didn't spend that much, cheapskate that I am, bought it online from somewhere, though I will always spend serious money on a good mattress if I have to ( Dunlopillo Diamond for preference).

My mattress was only £100 delivered from the bed shed and it's actually really comfortable. It's a bit !!!!!!ed down the middle but I call it my body groove, a bit like Homer Simpsons @rse groove on his chair.:beer:

Theirs hope for him Snap, the other duvet has sequins on:THappy the easiest way to put a duvet on, is to turn the quilt inside out, hold the corners and shake it down, But if you really have a problem stick a peg on the corners of the first two corners you get in place, that makes it much easier;)

That's what I do, it's just so big though *cough* my dirty mind again. Good tip on the pegs.

Snap & I picked up our Boxer Bed Company Super King mattress from JL's , it cost a bob or 2 but it's a no turn and one of the most comfy ones I've ever had the pleasure of [STRIKE]tossing and turning[/STRIKE] sleeping on .

I'd like a nice mattress, but I also like my money in the bank earning me some interest.:rotfl::rotfl::beer:

hi QOC, you missed "keeping up with the thread and responding", shaving @ 100 mph on the motorway is a doddle compered :rotfl:

Took four hour walk to defuse. still angry but in a pityful way. Such a shame people don't have anything better to do.

when i were a youngun, for fun we used to play phantom gardening, take one plant and put it in next doors garden, double points for garden gnomes, triple points for putting said gnome in next door front porch, and plant from 1sr house outside other front door, tie fishing line between 2 door knockers, pull line,
    hide behind bushes :)

if we hadn't finished peeing ourselves we'd get some free condoms from boots, fill them up with water, go to top of multi storey car park and lob them off at the people on the ground..that is so much fun u could pee yourself laughing :)

I flew into Schipol for the first time, and i so would not like to be driving under the bridge that the planes cross  Walking out of shops on one of the main streets and finding a tram running down the street in front of you was an experience! Totally stuff you would not expect to see, and could probably only see it in 'dam too

I actually do blame the parents- there are so many people these days who just have no idea of right and wrong themselves, that they dont have any idea how to teach their children the difference either.

ETA- i like the fun you were having. I find myself sometimes having the urge to do that now, and I am most definitley not a child :-)

I have reassessed my shopping list for today and taken out all laundry products no matter how good a deal they are. I need to be using up supplies and stop building them. I think we sometimes have a bit of a siege mentality, especially if we are having hard times financially, which leads to stockpiling. One thing I am learning (Nikkilala always said this) is that at some point in the not too distant future there will be another offer, another good deal, another glitch, so I need to draw the line somewhere.

Somewhere on MSE there is a "using up toiletries" challenge thread - I think we may all need a using up laundry and household cleaning products challenge thread instead.

Strange thing is that since all these brilliant cleaning offers have been around, my house isn't any cleaner. In fact, it is probably messier because I spend more time online trying to work out best way to use up vouchers etc. Think I may have lost the plot somewhere along the line, so as it's now a nice sunny day, I'm off out to enjoy it.

I have just joined the toiletries one, soooo glad I'm not the owner of the largest stash, I was beginning to think I had a problem!

I'm with you on using stuff up, I'm not buying anything else now, especially no more fabric conditioner! I worked out I now own 26.3L of it and there's only me!!!
