Do you take Captain out anywhere or do you just hack locally? Does your yard have a policy that you have to have him jabbed? I only ask as many people believe that once they have had several years of yearly injections they build up enough resistance anyway could you consider letting them lapse and re start when you have a job? The other option is to speak to your vet on whether he needs both parts.

Does anyone else need the vet out on the same day, could you share call out fees or ride him to the vet (usually charge less)

Keep going with the job applications. The benefits system sound horrendous, virtual hug and pat on the back for coping so well

What shall we do with you today Mrs ??

Yep Mrs B's suggestion was great, we used our local business group many years ago for a new business and it proved useful in getting new work. Twitter would be a great way to get followers of your blog. I am on Twitter but only follow One Direction, but thats another story !!

I am loving the blog, we must all get our thinking caps on and come up with a way to get you noticed and quickly , even if it means following my lead and taking your clothes off !

Your doing amazingly well in the circumstances and these daft employers clearly dont know what their missing by sending these constant rejections.

I will check back in on you later x

I've just shared in having a worm count which has saved some money as he doesn't have any. His jabs aren't due until December so they can wait. We only hack now, but if I let the insurance lapse I won't be able to take out cover again. He's insured because it's carried from one year to the next. No other insurance company would take on a veteran for illness and accident unfortunately. We already share reduced call out days at the yard for the dentists, jabs etc. I'm afraid it's mad e*baying from tomorrow.

Mrs P - Me taking my clothes off to get noticed will land me in prison. I lookmuch better naked in the imagination or dark!

booskyeboo - The only thing wrong with the Dummies books is the title, you have to have a bag to carry them around in. Let me know what you think of yours and I'll give you some feedback on mine [sounds dodgy, but you know what I mean]:rotfl:

Perhaps Ella is the divine intervention....although in this weather I'm not sure about going out to play ball. But there again, labs love the water, don't they?

I've just learned that my jsa has been put on hold because I can't tell them how much my building society is going to pay out on the mortgage payment claim. I have explained that I've spoken to the insurance company and they are waiting for details from my last employer and then the claim will be processed.

If I understand correctly what the woman said, and I'm not sure I do, if the mortgage claim pays out this is classed as income and I will probably lose the jsa anyway.

Another lurker here - wanted to reply having been in your position. I think you are claimimg contribution based JSA? If so then want you have been told is totally incorrect.

If you are on the next stage - based on your income/savings (which comes in after 6 months) as I understand it (from two friends who have claimed on their insurance) the insurance company pays teh lender direct, you therefore don't have the money and it is not therefore classed as income.

I put my head in teh sand and didn't claim for a year, claimed and then got a job as the first six months were running out. Like you and many others it is obvious that the Job Centre cannot cope with people with specialised jobs and experience.

Please don't lose heart - it is so easy to do so.

Thank you Peb for delurking :hello:
I think the insurance is going to pay directly into my bank account as they asked me for my bank account details so it will be classed as income, but it's not if it's my insurance, it's not as if I'd have it any other way apart from unemployment, is it?

I think I'll give them a ring and see if they'll pay it direct for me. I'll wager any money you like that the DWP will stop my jsa anyway and I'll have to jump through any number of hoops to get it back.

Don't worry about me, it's a blip and I should be feeling better tomorrow and fighting back to get a job and some income.

Does anyone know if you can get reduced vet bills for a cat if you're on benefits? [I hate saying that I feel like a dead-weight scrounger, but I do want the Bear looked after]

Thanks for your kind words Peb

    Hi Piq.
you can get cheap/free pet care if you get housing benefit (or council tax benefit too i think).
    Its via the PDSA: http://www.pdsa.org.uk/pdsa-vet-care/eligibility

I need to get my cat registered too, as i have always meant to get round to it!

    Thanks Cleggie

I've just looked it up and I don't have one near me, the nearest is twenty miles away. Now bearing in mind that the Bear starts yowling non stop as the engine starts up and he messes himself, I don't think the journey is fair to him [or me :o it smells very bad by the time we get to the vets, I have to have the windows open]

Hopefully, you have one nearer to you.
