  • Hi Piq, have followed your diary for some time and wish you all the luck in the world. You deserve it. Following is a list that may help to take the strain off a little.

    MOVING? WHOM TO TELL?

Social - relatives and friends, public library, committees, organisations, clubs and church.

Household - Council Tax (both town halls involved), Post Office to redirect mail, gas, water and electricity authorities, arrange plumber and electrician to disconnect/reconnect appliances, TV etc. rental company, TV licence, hire purchase agreements, publications mailed to you, British Telecom (call free on 150, Monday - Saturday, at least two weeks in advance), fax, children's schools, close local business accounts such as milk and newspaper delivery.

Health - doctor, dentist, optician, hospital, clinic, Community Health Department (for continuation of invitations for children's immunisation), private hospital plan.

Financial - stockbroker, pension plans, Premium Bonds, National Savings Bank, High Street banks and Building Societies, standing orders, accountant, Company Registrars for stocks and shares, credit cards, income tax authorities, National Insurance/DHSS, DHSS benefits or allowances.

Insurance - life, car, house and contents, maintenance contracts (central heating, freezer contents, appliances, etc.), personal liability.

  • Hello Piq,

I have been reading your diary for years (that sounds a bit strange and stalker like it isn't meant too!) but I have only just joined up so as I can post. I just want to say how pleased I am that things are finally moving in the right direction for you. Like so many on here I enjoy reading your diary (especially the animal antics!) and I echo everyone when I say that all of the good things that are happening now could not have happened to a more deserving person.

I also have an intuitive feeling that your suitor may be a multimillionaire wanting someone to share his fortune with :)... well you you never know.

One moving tip that I found invaluable is numbering each box so you know that you have 50 boxes total say, boxes 1-10 are bedroom things, 11-20 is lounge and the rest are for Colin's feline palace! :rotfl: This makes it easier to check that all boxes are accounted for and to find things when you arrive.

Looking forward to the new thread!

    Xx

Wow, wonderful news, Piq! (Said you'd get your asking price ;)).
Great that DD is returning at such a good time to help with the move. :)

New Diary title suggestion: From Nettles to Flowers.
Frivolous ditto: Adventures of a Fat Cat, Old Nag and their Faithful Servant. :p

Got asked out on a date at work, but why the one with no teeth and half mast trousers ???

I'm currently on a glass of medicinal red wine a night :o it's not helping but it is using up the stock :D

What about "Half-full Glasses and Half-mast Trousers" for a diary title :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Fortune x
  • I have been away on Holiday since Friday and I discovered something about myself!

I am addicted to this diary:rotfl:

I had no access to the internet and was desperate to find out what was happening in the house offer saga.

It's great that you have an offer of the asking price.

I look forward to the new diary!

Pretty please will you post a link to your new diary when the time comes?

Of course I will, just got to decide which title to go with, quite taken with robin's flippant suggestion. I'd really like a more upbeat title this time.

Certainly is. Colin tarted himself all over her, completely ignoring me :rotfl:

I sometimes forget I've been around here for years :D How to spend your evenings, chatting to lovely people I've never met :rotfl:

No suiters thank you! Can't cope with such luxuries. I don't think I was put on this earth to partner anyone in particular. My guardian angel says I have another purpose....

That's a good idea, I'd like to think I'll only have 50 boxes.....I'd also like to think that the DSs will read what is on the boxes....

I like the frivolous one. I'd really like to have a happy diary this time round. I'll have somewhere new to live, be poor but debt free and embarking on a simpler life. As always Colin and the Captain will star in it so they may as well be in the title!
