I've done sums over and over again and the mathematical conclusion? I can't afford to live here and live. I'm going to be working five days/evenings at my new job, have agreed a day at the coffee shop, have the gardening jobs and paint pots. I don't want to live like this to have no time or money to myself. I've done what has to be done, scary or not - I've put my house on the market, it may not sell, but I won't know that yet.

Today the estate agent came to value it for me, I was dreading it because of the rendering work that needs doing. His advice was to get some more quotes in so that there was proof of how much it would actually cost rather than a buyer picking a large figure out of the air and knocking it off the price. He's valued it at more than I thought it would be and that's with wonky fences and rendering. He felt that the charm of the house combined with it's location would outweigh the rendering in a buyer's eyes. We shall see.

In the spirit of moving, I've chucked two bags of tut away, bin day tomorrow. I should be able to fit another couple in there with ease. Only another hundred or so to go.

One of the problems with down-sizing will be excess furniture and stuff. I'll eb@y some, give the books to Barnados, they'll be able to dedicate a library to me with the amount I've got!

Best get on with clearing out. I now have ten items listed, four have bids on :T totaling £10, it's going to take a while to make my fortune here...

A huge decision for you, but hopefully when your house sells and you find somewhere more economical to run, you will find a huge weight lifted from you, and the freedom to have a better life for yourself and Colin, and perhaps be nearer to, or able to visit more with the gorgeous Captain. No hugs LOL, but oodles and oodles of positive and caring thoughts coming your way. Good luck with the clearing out, OH and I had 30 years of stuff to sort and re-home when we sold up and moved 2 years ago, and I haven't missed a single thing that went!!!!

Now there's an idea, we'd have a rota for babysitting, housework and cooking and marvelous evenings with wine and laughter, who'd care about the decorating

I've about twenty years of stuff to sort out, I don't even know what's in the loft  I've started getting rid of books, if I really love them I'm keeping them or eventually getting a copy for my kindle. I'll sort more clothes for cash, only got £7 last time, but it's £7 I wouldn't have if I threw them away.

Another two items on eb@y, one of which is my old router! I've said it worked when I unplugged it but don't ask any questions as I won't know the answers, fair I think as it's only listed for 99p

I meant to say the Estate agent took a picture of Colin's house with the Colin's house sign I made as he thought it was really good fun, perhaps he'll add it to the brochure.... I don't know if I ever posted a picture of it here.

Books were the most difficult for me too. I kept virtually no fiction, working on the principal that I could always get it from the library for 40p ordering fee, or from CS. OH has a fab collection of books about cycling and cyclists and also The Lake District, Peak District and Yorkshire, so he ended up packing dozens of boxes, had to have book cases specially made when we got here! I thinned my cookery books and other non-fiction, cannot let many music CD's go though:eek:

Whoop Piq - :T:T:T:T on getting an estate agent around and getting things moving.

Here's wishing you a straightforward buyer, who'll pay somewhere near the asking price (as you're cool with it), be unfazed by the rendering, and who'll complete in the timeframe that you wish to work to.

So great to hear good news.

Ps Please may I have an invite to the opening of the 'Piquant Wing' of the Barnados library. (whoosh, bloomin cheek:rotfl:)
