Witty and interesting? I was planning on doing a traditional postcard ad to start with. Something along the lines of 'Lady loves gardening, would love to help you with yours'

Get that postcard up in that store honey (dont worry too much about the words at this stage. Factual and simple is not a bad stance) and sit back.....

Not that you ever sit back as we all know, but get the postcard up in the local shop. I think you'll get some interest..

Go on go on go on:D

[small dragonfly drawing on LH side of heading] Grasp the Nettle! [small dragonfly drawing on RH side of heading]

Reliable local lady now has vacancies for new clients who would love to have a garden they can be proud of.

Grasp the Nettle! can tackle all gardening tasks, from simply tidying up to planning and executing an exciting new design which will bring pleasure to the owners and all passers-by.

Special Offer 1: For bookings made by [choose date] - 20% off all plants supplied!

Special Offer 2: Reduced rates for OAP's and disabled persons who require regular garden maintenance.

Let Grasp the Nettle! do all the hard work while you sit back and enjoy your garden this summer!

Call Piquant on xxxxxxxxxxx for more information and to book a free [STRIKE]visit[/STRIKE] consultation when we will discuss your requirements/garden needs [<<either or].

..Just a starting point, Piq, as it's easier to change a draft than create one. ;)
No need to mention in this ad/flyer that if someone approaches you to remove mature trees, dig a lake [or anything else you can't or don't want to tackle] then you'll be sub-contracting..

Small suggestion although rest is fantastic

Call so we can meet to create a vision for your outside living room

Also get your bum to a garden centre or three and ask for trade rates .... look into the online plant purchasing places for similar.

Do some digging on the trade shows for plants and so on (there is one in Windsor usually and these generally are free to get into) Also would be good for equipment and so on plus contractors.

Brilliant, Robin - two small suggestions: line 4, maybe put "creating" instead of "executing"? and perhaps "bring pleasure to all" .... I would slightly wince, meself, at paying good money to give pleasure to passers by (tho' I know what you mean!).
Also, Piq, maybe you could put " with xxxx years gardening experience" ?
There are a couple of excellent large car boot sales round here, where plants are sold very cheaply - about a quarter of the price of the local garden centre. And they are good, interesting, well grown plants too.....
Good luck Piq, go for it. You know we want you to!!

One more thought - don't forget you will have to register as self-employed with HMRC .... quick and easy, do it before you get busy!!
