    I can do business plans.
    I can also do applications
And I think if you tootle down to the local constabulary and ask you can get a check done there but you may have to make an appointment for when the appropriate person is there! Ad I know down here it was fee free.
Yes we can make this happen

Whew just back from Crufts! Have spent a small national debt on dog toys and stuff. Watched people spend like there is no tomorrow too... Piq you need some of these shows! Maybe look at some of the summer county shows (the small ones) where you can sell pots, planted pots, hanging baskets as well as offer the gardening service?

Piq-Aunts (omg, a new pun!), might it make sense to make a list of potential outgoings that Piq can add to her business plan spreadsheet? Then there will be no nasty surprises...

So... I'll start with public liability (with an L:D), business cards (best ones although not the cheapest are from Moo), small website just showing pictures, listing what is available and prices, compost for potting up ready-made pots - you can get this wholesale. Maybe look for a local wholesaler that sells all that you need? There will also be lots of wholesale nurseries that will enable you to get young plants. For the Autumn there is a wholesale show called Glee that is at the NEC - it's free if you register early, and worth a trip.

Run out of ideas for right now, need more g & t I think....

    Morning

What wonderfully positive vibes over the last 24 hours! Just de-lurking for something I know a little about. CRB is no longer CRB. It is now DBS. I was looking into it at work last week. For a basic check it is (from memory) £25 and an enhanced one is £44 (both plus VAT). To this you will probably pay an administration fee to whoever is processing your application. I'm not sure if you can get them direct. Go to the government website and it will become a bit clearer. You can (down here anyway) get the county council to process the application, but there are plenty of people offering the service.

    Good luck!

    RPP

Thanks Rosie, DBS is now on a scrap of paper! Maybe this afternoon as the weather is not looking promising at all
I would like to join the Gardening Angels to support Piq :T

DH is asleep with a bad head so I can do what I like:rotfl: ... we have 2 lawn mowers - they are Briggs & Stratton - I believe they are the creme de la creme of lawnmowers - quite how we ended up with 2 is anyone's guess but as DH was/is a spendaholic anything is possible.

Providing they both start ( not used all winter) then I would be happy to donate one to Piq.

I am only in the next county (I think) so a little trip out is no problem.

We also have lots of tools etc which have come from merging 2 households.

Hope you can pull all this together Piq :T

EE, how lovely to see you! How do you turn up just when needed? I've seen you on other threads just popping in at the critical moment to offer help. Some sort of radar?

If I get this going, I might just take you up on the lawnmower, not that I know anything about makes :o and the offer of OH's carpentry skills. I'm quite good at looking at something and thinking 'Oh I could make a xxx' but then realise I have no idea how to do it!

Oh I say this thread goes from strength to strength doesn't it - every time I log on I come straight here and get all excited again. Now Piq, I know that you want to do this all on your own and that is completely commendable, however some of your lovely friends have offered to donate no longer needed gardening tools and if I were in your position I would accept them with gracious thanks. Remember that when our friend Robin has something nice happen to her she always makes a donation to charity - it is her way of giving something back, so if a friend
offers you a helping hand, then you should reach out your hand and take proffered help, you can always pass it on.

I can't afford a donation at the moment, but I do believe in passing it on. If I see something I can do for someone else I will do it. My dad has always said that you must give back what you have taken even if it is only kindness. He always adds 'and don't expect a fanfare either'
Its much better than the telly.

Can't go on telly, apparently it adds at least 7lbs

I'm glad you enjoyed Crufts Caroline, it's something I'd enjoy even though I don't have a dog!

Your listing of things is a help, that's what I'm bad at. I just do things in a haphazard fashion. Something tells me that I need to be better organised.

Not up to a business plan yet missrir, just an organisation of ideas might help.

It's snowing. Nasty wet snow. I've put the heating on for an hour, just to warm up a little and dry a few bits of washing. The heated airer is full. I seem to have overdone the amount of washing. Will wash the towels tomorrow!

You lot are overwhelming me! I'd never have thought of this all on my own and the offers of help and equipment are so kind, thank you! We'll have a UK covering gardening company before we even start.

Now here's the thing. One of you suggested a while ago that I looked for a job as an administrator, it might have been Caroline [too lazy to look back over the diary :o it is Sunday morning] I'm not sure I responded, but I'm rubbish at business administration. When I worked I had someone to help me do that :o Please can someone tell me what I should be doing next? I'm happily painting pots, I thought I'd leave one with a herb or flower at every customer, is that a good idea?

There's so much here I'm not sure what to do with it! I'm seeing a friend on Tuesday who has some experience in the gardening world, maybe she'll give me a shove.

I'm off to meet my mum and dad for breakfast shortly so will be back here later.

You didn't have to be right on this occasion you know:rotfl:

Everything except the bacon and sausage. I don't eat meat and I'm not letting Colin find out about bacon, he's already mighty chubby...
