So poor I can't even pay attention

What wonderfully positive vibes over the last 24 hours! Just de-lurking for something I know a little about. CRB is no longer CRB. It is now DBS. I was looking into it at work last week. For a basic check it is (from memory) £25 and an enhanced one is £44 (both plus VAT). To this you will probably pay an administration fee to whoever is processing your application. I'm not sure if you can get them direct. Go to the government website and it will become a bit clearer. You can (down here anyway) get the county council to process the application, but there are plenty of people offering the service.

    Good luck!

I would like to join the Gardening Angels to support Piq :T

DH is asleep with a bad head so I can do what I like:rotfl: ... we have 2 lawn mowers - they are Briggs & Stratton - I believe they are the creme de la creme of lawnmowers - quite how we ended up with 2 is anyone's guess but as DH was/is a spendaholic anything is possible.

Providing they both start ( not used all winter) then I would be happy to donate one to Piq.

I am only in the next county (I think) so a little trip out is no problem.

We also have lots of tools etc which have come from merging 2 households.

Hope you can pull all this together Piq :T

Just to quickly add that if you decide to branch out (not that you have even started) I can offer my DH who has decided to 'retire' next month as he is very good with his hands :T

DH has made cat and dog runs from scratch and also chicken and turkey sheds.

He just gets an idea in his head, goes off to the wood man, comes back and within an hour it is all up - no plans or anything written down.

When our neighbours saw our cat run she thought we had purchased it flat packed and just put it together!!
  • Hi Piq, I'm not much use at gardening, but some people have come up with great ideas for you, hope you manage to put something together. I will be here cheering you on.
    Good luck.

All this sounds simply wonderful. I knew having some holiday would be fortuitous!!

CRB check..now called a DBS check is £44 for enhanced, but is usually managed by employers or organisations so not sure how it works if you are a sole trader.

I agree you'll pass but it also shows that you care that people know you are completely trustworthy and conscious that you will be coming into contact with vulnerable people

This is fab. I feel rather energised by all this!!!! Very very pleased for you.

Oh I say this thread goes from strength to strength doesn't it - every time I log on I come straight here and get all excited again. Now Piq, I know that you want to do this all on your own and that is completely commendable, however some of your lovely friends have offered to donate no longer needed gardening tools and if I were in your position I would accept them with gracious thanks. Remember that when our friend Robin has something nice happen to her she always makes a donation to charity - it is her way of giving something back, so if a friend
offers you a helping hand, then you should reach out your hand and take proffered help, you can always pass it on.
