Love the Colin mouse story. And love when animals look embarrassed, too. My late horse was definitely vain, he would take a mouthful of hay, and I would say "Ooh, who's that handsome horse, with the little hay moustache?" and I swear he would smirk, he knew it was him! (He was indeed very handsome ...)

Bless, I love the little hay moustache :rotfl:unfortunately, the Captain just has his hay hanging out the corner of his mouth, makes him look rural rather than handsome...
I am also working in a shop at the moment, what I hate most is the people who cough and sneeze over me without covering their mouths - yuck, I don't want their germs, I have enough of my own .... and the people who completely ignore me, until they want something. Do your customers do that? I sometimes wonder if I have become invisible (and have been known to mutter stuff to that effect). I ache all over after a busy day, and am just so tired of being cheerful and polite, but it's lovely when you get someone responsive and can have a good laugh, and spread a little cheer. Ho ho.

It is an eye-opener working in a shop, you certainly get all sorts come in. One of my particular favourites at the moment is the gentleman who comes in on a regular basis to buy his coffee. Always asks for me, or perhaps it is that I am suddenly the only woman manning the tills...Yesterday he was wearing a blue sequined mini skirt, orange boob tube, stockings and a blue garter. The magnificent outfit was topped by silver tinsel deely boppers.

I had to pop the supermarket today to pick up a few bits for the making of Christmas presents. Being financially strapped I always check the prices, sometimes have to use the calculator on my phone as the pricing is so random.

Today I spotted 200g packet of walnut pieces for £2.50 or a 100g pack for £1. For some reason this really annoyed me. As luck would have it there was a gathering of very important suited men having a meeting by the Shiraz [Two for £10 or £4.99 each] I asked one of the checkout girls who they were and it turned out it was a very high up guy from head office.

As I said, I'm finding the pricing annoying and feel that the store is taking advantage of shoppers in a hurry just to make a profit. So I invited myself to the meeting and offered my view on the 'every little helps' branding....I marched the poor man over to the walnuts, the tomato soup [4 for £3.20 -75p individually] and asked him to explain how exactly this helped the customer and wasn't really displaying the greed of the supermarket at the expense of the customer they claim to be helping?

He was very apologetic, probably wishing the ground would swallow me up. Anyway, he has taken my details and says he will write to me to let me know what he was going to do about it.

Bet I ruined his day :rotfl:

I noticed this today also! The baby shampoo was £1 (normal price not on offer) for the smaller size or £3.20 for exactly twice as much as the £1 bottle!! How much must they make by customers assuming the bigger bottle will be better value and just grabbing it without looking??!!

Well done you for saying something! Wish I'd thought of it!

  • Thank you Piq, I've had a go in A$da too when the same thing has happened, today I went to Aldi for the shopping, so much quieter, so easy. Think ill be doing as much as possible there. I get all my cleaning items and shampoos at work so I can't see me having to go to a normal supermarket much.

...and who says I don't already?....

Actually I enjoy serving him, he is very happy with his lot in life, I told him he looked lovely and he was as pleased as punch! It's got to be said though, he hasn't really got the legs for a mini skirt...

I also told the head guy that I believed that his supermarket was deliberately misleading the customer on the pricing, in the hope that in confusion the customer would pick up the more expensive item believing it to be cheaper. I think I used the word greed at least six times :(

This morning I can't believe I did it, but I was so annoyed at the apparent deviousness of it all. Afterwards, when paying for my bits and pieces the lad on the checkout said all the staff were cheering me on :(

On a different subject; it's snowed! That wasn't on my weather forecast! I'll have to leave for work earlier, best not leave colin out for the day. That's if

a I can get him to go out in the first place

    and

b I can get him to come in if he goes out
