Horses! Mud!! Wet winters!!! Enough already, and the bad weather has hardly begun .... I now have three at home again, as the little stallion is back for a couple of weeks as the trainer is going away. She still loves him, and he will go back for a bit more training later in December. And - today I rode him! Just 15 mins. walking and trotting in the school, but it was just fantastic to be on him. He was as good as gold, despite being a bit startled to have a new rider. I love him to bits, and am really chuffed today. It took us ages to load him onto the lorry to bring him home (only a couple of miles), but he was just wary, not naughty. Reassurance and food did the trick in the end. (Sorry, don't mean to say too much on your thread, but had to tell someone!!)
Piq, I am so sorry for your job situation, must be so frustrating for you. Glad the Captain's antics take your mind off it - I find it impossible to fret about anything when around horses, they sort of fill your brain up!
Love to all, cake xxx0 -

Morning Piq, sorry about the job news, I think that's why my OH was so terrified of being out of work he went through two years of job searching last time before he got that one.
I timed my journey to work badly this morning, the news was on Radio 2 so I could hear the car noiseHSBC CC - £3000 / £3000

Sorry the job situation is still rubbish ! I honestly cannot understand why someone out there cant realise how wonderful you are and what an asset you would be to their Business !

How excitingI bet you cant wait till summer to get going properly.
My old chap wasnt too bad despite a day in yesterday. My girls go out in day - in at night. I wouldnt normally clip small one but I have started show jumping her now indoors in the winter and she just gets too excited and too sweaty.
Its calm here at the moment but I believe heavy rain and wind coming back later!
Keep warm everyone.0 -

That's the situation I'm in. It's been a year now although I work part-time. I sometimes think I'd work at anything just to be in full time employment. I know how your OH feels

Oh no! Change channels! I think people must wonder if my car is a mobile karaoke machine, I have to sing loudly if there are gaps in the music just so I don't hear the noise...Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Indeed, horse bring peace to a mind in turmoil.
How exciting for you to ride your little stallion [OMG that does not read well  what the heck, I'll leave it, we may get one or two perverts turning up though ]

I think I need a cup of coffee and a lie down, I've gone straight from riding a stallion to you and your old chap....
It's a human thing, but I prefer my horse in during the winter nights, he seems happy enough in his stable, he never did like the rain!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

^^^ Ha ha Piq :rotfl:
Yes I sleep better knowing they are warm and tucked up in bed. Our grazing is poor in the mares paddock too which is horrible.0 -
All our horses in stables here too, tho' I did hand graze them a bit this morning, just to stretch their legs ... the gusty wind did give us a few challenging 'moments', lol. I have told them in no uncertain terms that they are very, very lucky to have nice stables to shelter in, as I have got the barrow out for the umpteenth time to shovel yet more !!!! .... The weather this afternoon has been absolutely vicious: heavy, horizontal rain, and our local river is horribly high. Hope all of you and quadrupeds stay safe, warm and dry. xxx0
