I think I'm feeling better. I'm still very tired, that's due to coughing violently when lying down trying to sleep! And I've got a mouth full of ulcers which are uncomfortable. Obviously, I'm a bit run down. With that in mind I'm trying to eat good food. Breakfast was a blueberry and banana smoothie and lunch was homemade bread and butternut squash and chilli soup. Dinner was left overs.

I made some cranberry and almond biscotti for healthy[ish] snacks, somehow I managed to drop a tub of baking powder. Do you have any idea how far baking powder travels? I also took the stick blender too near the surface of the soup meaning I decorated the cupboards and windows with orange soup..... I've cleaned the kitchen today.....

I got some reduced flower bulbs on the way home from work yesterday, crocus' 20 for 20p so I bought 40. They're already sprouting so I planted them out this morning in the rain :( I'm hoping Colin doesn't find them as he's been digging up my newly planted bulbs to play football with them round the garden ;) Along with raking up leaves, I plant back bulbs on a daily basis. He's also taken the heads off all the winter pansies, carefully leaving them on the ground around the pots of stalks...

I'm going to have the long overdue admin day tomorrow. The paper pile is huge. I must apply for some jobs too. I've done nothing whilst I've been ill:o If I'm sitting using the computer and phone I think I may have to bite the bullet and put the heating on for a few hours as I get very cold sitting at a desk.

The Captain is well, a bit too well if you ask me. I thought we might have a gentle ride today....He thought differently. There was a jump up in the school, not unusual, normally we work round it. Today he decided that he was going to jump it and ignore me on top saying no. I thought my heart was going to stop as he took the bit between his teeth and accelerated towards and over the jump. 2' 9" he cleared, easily. He then proceeded to prance round the school like a Spanish showhorse, very pleased with himself. We stopped jumping any height some years ago as he is getting on and I don't like jumping particularly. In time I may forgive him...:rotfl:

Oh yippee you're back! So sorry you are feeling poo still. Really hope you can settle the cough. If you are worried about heating costs ( and who isn't?) why not fill a hot water bottle and sit on it all wrapped up, used to work for me with another on my feet when writing student essays!

Good idea. I have been using a hot water bottle in the evenings. I just don't want to start the heating up, the gas costs are so very expensive  I get so cold if I sit for a long time without moving much. I could go and rake leaves between tasks I suppose, that warms me up! But I really want to settle and clear as much as I can. I'm stressing a bit about the backlog.

Glad you are feeling a bit better but I really must insist that you put the heating on if you are sitting around. The last thing you want is to be poorly for longer. I know you are worried about the money but its money well spent as otherwise you will be off work again and lose money that way instead.

Therein rests the Granny lecture. Glad you liked the photo of Colin we thought you would. I took the screwdriver off him after taking it though. I have to say he wasn't best pleased and took his anger out on your pansies instead

You are quite right, I have to work. No pay if I don't go in and there are scary notices on the walls about being on a disciplinary if you have time off sick  If I get cold I will put the heating on, I must sort things out....

It doesn't surprise me that Colin was found with the screwdriver, he is into everything. I'm not used to a young adventurous cat! I'm not best pleased with his gardening skills though, thank goodness he hasn't got his own trowel...

Hope the cough and tonsils are on the mend Piq. Your works policy makes my blood boil:mad::mad: My OH has very similar policy ( he works for government dept btw) and is allowed 3 sick days a year - can be sacked if he has more:eek: A real b00ger if you have something serious ( as he has had) have to jump through hoops of fire to prove how ill you have been. Now you work in the food industry - last thing I would want it someone coughing over my overpriced sandwich and a coffee or handling food with a stomach upset.......having a go at company policy not you Piq!
