I haven't posted for a couple of days, where does time go?

    Good things

A friend gave me a huge clump of verbena bonariensis. I have planted it in the newly dug bed, it will look lovely next year, all tall purple flowers weaving in and out of the roses.

Colin cat comes home when called. He seems to be enjoying the outdoor life. I have got him a cat kennel for when I'm not at home, so he stays safe and dry. It is under the jasmine and he seems to quite like it.

    Not so good things

The tax man seems to think I owe him money for private health cover from two different companies. This doesn't make sense, which means I'm going to have to write some letters to him. I haven't had heath cover for about three years, then it was a benefit from the one company I worked for.

My endowment policy is not going to make the forecasted amount to cover my mortgage. Luckily, I made the mortgage part repayment some years ago. However, there was a booklet in there explaining how it might have been mis-sold. I'm going to look into how to claim for it.

Money is so tight this month, I'm not sure how I'm going to manage. Eb@y was going well, I made £60 on one item, then the buyer said they thought it was another brand and have pulled out, so I need to relist. Another item made £37, but that buyer still hasn't paid. Three other items have bids on for £10 each, but so many questions!

I'm a bit under the weather, which is making me tired, nothing particular just a few glands up. But it leaves me with that can't be bothered feeling :o Currently have a hot water bottle against my back as it aches a bit.

    Hi Piq
Colin's hideaway under the jasmine sounds lovely - lucky chap!
Sorry to hear about your other problems: seems a lot of them about at the moment. Life is just very tiring sometimes, I don't always want to be a grown up!
My catto is still alive, just - very very thin and still doing all the usual things, including snuggling and purring, but today he seemed a bit weak and wobbly for the first time, so I am thinking about the vet sometime before the end of the week. I so hate the responsibility of making the decision, it is a heavy burden.
On a lighter note, my horse has gone to boarding school!! He's a stallion (only 14.2 and with the kindest nature), and we have been waiting to have enough money to have him properly backed. Found a really lovely woman to do it, she is also very kind natured, and they are getting on really well. When she is happy with his progress, I will go over there (only a few miles away, another happy coincidence) and have some lessons on him until I am confident enough to bring him on at home. I am happy and excited, as I have not ridden since my old horse died. Can't imagine life without animals - sure you can't either!
Anyway, sending you and other MSEers warm wishes,
    love, the cake

We claimed for our missold endowment policies a good few years back now and got the money back with interest in one case. Put us 'back to where we should be' had we not been missold and now on repayment mortgage. One company paid us back but asked to to consider keeping the endowment running which we did and now weirdly its on track to finish and pay out in 2 years and would have more than covered the mortgage had we just left it..........but we are glad we didn't:) Well worth claiming I would say

Sorry to hear about catto - like you say one of the hardest things about having animals.

Sounds exciting about your stallion though - did you breed him? I bet you cant wait to be back riding again.

    hi P and Colin,

The outside kennel sounds a fab idea and good news that he comes to call now - perhaps he will do all his business outside now.

Not good news about mortgage and tax man. I hope they can be sorted as you really dont need the stress which is probably why you are a bit run down.

Hope Captain is well, I have made the decision to bring the girls in at night from this weekend - its just too cold out for little TB and she looks like she may have dropped some weight.

    take care x

That's interesting, thank you. I'm sure I wasn't told about the risks involved, twenty years ago everyone had an endowment mortgage, it was the thing to do!

I'm going to have a look round the boards to see if there's a template letter to follow. I'll do this later as I have to go to meet my dad for coffee, followed by work .

It is a heavy burden, poor you and poor catto. You've had some extra time to love him but it doesn't make it any easier at all.

I like the idea of sending your horse to boarding school [The Captain would have to go to Borstal ;)] How exciting to be able to ride a brand new horse and learn together! I bet you're nervous too. I insist you keep us updated with tales from boarding school and beyond.
