you can do this, we all have faith in you, they have faith in you as they have invited you for an interview, so do not get in a tiz! breathe.
you want to work for them as you want to get back into work, you have seen the other (dark) side, to be able to utilise the skills you have built up in your career again and them be recognised is a massive positive. you may not feel that organisation is your strong point but you clearly have a tight grasp on what monies you need where and when which is organisation

i've been slightly awol but still avidly reading as I found a manpet & things were really lovely. he(!) was saying he didn't feel it was a short term thing, introducing me to his family, telling me he could really be open and honest with me, I even started to let down my guard after several bad spells and believe I may have a chance
Shame it was all a load of twaddle as he never actually had any feelings for me & was just saying it all, hoping his feelings would change instead of actually being honest and taking things slower. so its back to just me & housemate (& housemates gf) again

Oh I'm sorry the manpet wasn't honest, you deserve so much better. Don't be hard on yourself because you let your guard down, shows you have a lovely honest nature, open and trusting. One day, a decent loving man will just appear and make you very happy.

I've been off work so long, I'm afraid I've forgotten how it all works! It's the competency thing that's freaking me out, I never think of myself as very competent. I've read and reread the site and what they call marketing isn't anything I recognise as marketing. It's not like people buy tax.

I've thought long and hard about what I might be asked and will work to the STAR principle - situation, task, action, result. Not really my sort of thing, but sounds right on paper.

...and I'm freaked out at how much weight I've put on, so many of my work clothes are beyond tight

Come on Piq, you and I can both do this tomorrow!! The 'why do you want this job' is a load of rubbish - we want the job to pay our bills, bottom line! Yet we still have to go through this masquerade of 'because it's the best job ever..'

Anyway, if you can ride a horse going backwards, I'm sure that's a very similar skill to selling the virtues of the taxman. Simples!

:rotfl:bl**dy horse did a lot of going backwards today, then pursued his favourite man up the road begging for tic-tacs....very embarrassing. It is the man's fault, in a way, he has given the Captain one tic-tac every morning when he walks his dog past the Captain's field. I don't think he expected a horse to recognise him from several hundred yards away though :o

Incidentally, I don't ride the horse backwards, I sit on him shouting obscenities trying to make him go forwards :rotfl:

I know the 'why do you want the job' bit is tosh, but it's got to be done and I don't like lying. It's not because I like a challenge, it's because you're paying silly money and it would solve a lot of my problems and debts....is the correct answer!

thank you for your kind words :)
the workplace hasn't changed so you should have no concerns there

you have nothing to worry about, you are competant, any interview is about competancy but its not necessarily called a competancy interview. if you can't see how the job fits in the grand scheme and what they may expect from you in the post; drive the interview yourself and get the answers from them so you can make informed decisions. what does their 'marketing' department market/manage etc.
just make sure to breathe! & let us know how you get on when you get back

edit: Ok, make that 3rd :)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
