Wondering what on earth to wear... my current and last place were very casual dress-wise, dont have suits and boots!
:rotfl::rotfl:That'll go down so well! I'll marry the competencies up against the job spec, however, the spec is very brief and not very clear as to what the role actually does!
I haven't worn a suit for years. I thought I'd wear a black shift dress with a cream three quarter sleeve jacket and black pumps. I hope it will be smart enough. I only have a winter suit and there is a distinct possibility it's shrunk in the wardrobe :eek:Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

I don't think I've ever posted on your diary, but I have been reading it avidly. It's brilliant!
I just wanted to say best of luck with the interview. I work in the public sector and we have capability based interviews. As has been mentioned, they will want examples to demonstrate the various competencies. E.g. one of our capabilities is Coaches Others - you'd need to talk about training/coaching/mentoring people and how you use these skills.
If you get asked that horrible question - what's your biggest weakness? - then think of something you've improved. I.e. if you used to be poor at time management you explain how you've overcome this by planning your workload and identifying urgent/important tasks etc.

G'day dear one
It's a wonderful thing to be happy and to have lots of people to love, you are blessed and I'm very happy for you too.
I don't think I'll do very well at the interview it's a competency based interview and it's a government type company. I've never done that sort of interview, they'll be doing check-lists and I've never worked for the public sector either. I'm not feeling at all confident about it.
Massive Post that's now been lost.
Basically Thank You Piq
Your outfit sound very smart and professional and just bullsh*t your way through as thats what got me my current job out of 84 applicants.
If asked about a weakness say Chocolate, it worked for me once  oh and I read that you should never bad mouth any previous employers (hard work for me:rotfl:)
Have a great weekend

The job involves project management and my weakness is not always being that organisedbut I can't admit to that!
I'm having a major panic which is why I've been awol for a couple of days.

It's really kind of you to pop in with some advice - very much appreciated. Not sure the diary's brilliant, but I'll let you carry on thinking that!
I bought myself a book on questions and answers for interviews all I need to do now is work out what my own experience answers are. That's most of tomorrow taken care of!

you can do this, we all have faith in you, they have faith in you as they have invited you for an interview, so do not get in a tiz! breathe.
you want to work for them as you want to get back into work, you have seen the other (dark) side, to be able to utilise the skills you have built up in your career again and them be recognised is a massive positive. you may not feel that organisation is your strong point but you clearly have a tight grasp on what monies you need where and when which is organisation
i've been slightly awol but still avidly reading as I found a manpet & things were really lovely. he(!) was saying he didn't feel it was a short term thing, introducing me to his family, telling me he could really be open and honest with me, I even started to let down my guard after several bad spells and believe I may have a chance
Shame it was all a load of twaddle as he never actually had any feelings for me & was just saying it all, hoping his feelings would change instead of actually being honest and taking things slower. so its back to just me & housemate (& housemates gf) again- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted
