    Insurance & servicing very expensive

The insurance on my 1.6 i30 is £240 a year through Saga, with all the bells and whistles. I don't consider that expensive these days. I have had no dashboard rattles nor any other problems with build quality. Wipers work just fine. I cannot comment on the cost of servicing yet.

Is the warranty actually worth having though? see here

AFAIK clutches are never covered by warranty.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

Both the I30 and the Ceed are good cars - as said before look at the new deals and see if even a lease deal might make sense. There are some stupidly cheap offers at the moment. I believe drivethedeal are selling a pre registered car for around £10k, on some sort of PCP deal you'd have cheap motoring there.

With regards to insurance and servicing I'm really not sure how the poster thinks these are expensive? Insurance cost is much of a muchness with any other car in that bracket and the servicing costs are certainly far, far smaller than those of my Civic........£460 for a service just because it includes a transmission fluid change for example? £250-300 apart from that (Needless to say honda don't do mine).

Ford / Kia / Hyundai / Vauxhall all seem to charge much the same as each other for a service, where I am at least

Did I mention a price re servicing, no, so not sure how you can make above statement, first service cost £190 which i consider to be expensive compared to other main stream cars, its basicly an oil & filter change, BTW im in Bucks.

You didnt mention a cost but you did say they are "very expensive"

The reply was they are not as expensive as a civic.

£190 for a first service can hardly be classed as very expensive although I do accept Hyundai do seem to be a bit more than some mainstream cars like Ford etc

Did you shop around as all hyundai dealers charge different prices, I would def be going to a different dealer if it took 3 months to sort a problem

    Ehhhhh this statement:

    "Insurance & servicing very expensive"

Led me to believe you thought servicing was expensive.......Personally I don't see much wrong with your £190 from a main dealer. I certainly wouldn't pay it unless I had to - but it's comparable with other manufacturers. I can only suggest you try ford and vauxhall to see what they charge for a similar service in your area, it wont be £90 put it that way.

Vauxhall in my local area do a £99 "interim" service (equivalent to first service). Last year they even issued AA cover for no extra charge.

I suppose that's fair enough then, when I had my focus an interim service was in the region of £170 and that was around 2009. I'm sure vauxhall here charged the same but perhaps they've reduced it now.

Even so, I still maintain £150-£200 from a main dealer is normal and far far cheaper than what you'll pay for alot of other cars.

There's a brand new Cee'd about to come out, so don't buy a new one now, it'll depreciate very quickly

Edited: Turns out there's a new i30 about to come out too - http://www.carbuzz.co.uk/blog/Hyundai-i30-2012-127

Might be worth waiting for it. Or get an amazing deal.
