I dont have a problem with the footwell0 -
Jase
just wondered why you didnt respond to my question about prices of your focus0 -
Thanks - Probably would be around 10000. I had read that the 1.4 is considered better than the 1.6 but no evidence as to why.
Anyone any ideas?
best thing is to go and drive them both, and see what you think
the 0 to 60 times are hardly any different, the 1.4 is more economical and is a lower tax bracket (i think)0 -
If you want auto transmission you have to have the 1.6. They also make a diesel automatic version that has received very positive reports in the motoring press.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

Focus was bought from Autoquake in 2010.
At the time, a couple of equivalent i30s were on-sale at the same site for £4500.
If the i30s had been cheaper, I wouldn't have bought the Focus.
I did wonder if it was a while ago, does the same thing apply today? Having said that Autoquake went bust in early 2011 so maybe they were selling everything to cheaply
the other thing to consider is a 3 year old focus will have no manufacturers warranty, whereas a 3 year old i30 will still have 2 years left0 -

I bought a new i30 in July 11 and have been pleased so far. Its a 1.4 petrol and I've found it pretty punchy (compared to the 1.2 Punto I had) - with careful driving, I can get low 40s mpg, but obviously driving a bit harder & faster and using my new found power (all 107ps!) means I average about 39 mpg - not too bad and hope it will improve as I've only done 4k so far.
Overall, I'm happy - only 1 fault so far with a seat cover that was sorted with no quibble by the dealer.
Worth checking the supermarkets as it's at the end of it's model life - I got mine at Motorpoint and saved over a grand on the cheapest price I could find elsewhere - ok, I'm the second owner, but if you're keeping the car for 5 years, not sure that will make too much difference by then.
The warranty is pretty comprehensive, but like all manufacturers, there are some exclusions - audio cover is only 3 years I seem to remember.0 -
Thanks for the replies about the difference between 1.4 & 1.6. Someone suggested test driving both which I will do, I was already booked in for the 1.4 so will arrange another.
Someone mentioned Motorpoint which is where I've got my eye on one at £7,499 (2011 classic).
Had a look on Auto Trader and seen a fw 2010, 2009 for between £6000-£7000 but I would need to take into consideration the transfer cost as I'am in Glasgow as some of the dealers on Auto Trader are quite a distance.
Not sure whether to just go with the 2011 at Motorpoint or something older for slightly cheaper...0 -
I have a 60 reg i30 comfort diesel, at 8500 miles sterring column, wiper arm & and washer pump replaced, car going back for a concerto of dash rattles.
We also have another i30 in the family same model & diesel, that also has dash rattles, and only problem to date glow plugs x4 replaced after 3 months, as thats how long it took dealer to sort.
Insurance & servicing very expensive, the main dealer I use are very poor, these cars are cheap & cheerful, and the quality is poor, yes Hyundai offer a 5 year warranty, but dont be fooled, offer a warranty is one thing claiming on it is another.
Oh yeah there is a problem hyundai UK recognise & thats the drivers wiper smearing, my wiper arm replaced, but problem persists (wiper blade is fine) sometimes its so bad i cannot see anything, and I consider a safety issue, Hyundai UK dont think along the same lines, but admit its a known problem there working on.0
