Need some help from a Postie re delivery

Hello

I've had a buyer contact me about an item not received this week.

Paid for 6th Feb
Posted 1st class recorded 7th Feb

I've popped the tracking info into Royal Mail's track & trace box and it comes up with this for delivery info:

Date: 08/02/12
Time: 10:58
Status: DELIVERED 08/02/12
Track point: xxxxxxxx PDO

I've never had this sort of response before - normally it's something along the lines of@ 'Your item was delivered from our blah blah blah office on the so and so date...'

Can anyone tell me what the above means? Where is the parcel exactly? I've removed the name of the place where it is delivered but it is part of mainland UK. I don't understand what PDO stands for?

Would love some advice about what to do because this item has supposedly been delivered...

Thanks

  • Dear Buyer,

My apologies, I am away on business this weekend and only have phone-internet access. I've checked the manifest for that day and the tracking is AV123456789GB. I cannot check the Royal Mail website at this time, but if there any any problems, please let me know, as I am back in the office on Monday.

    Kind regards, seller.

    Hi again.

The details in my original post are the full ones. The only difference is, they state where I posted the item from and the date and time i did it.

I just don't understand why they would be tracked as delivered to Cxxxxxx PDO on the 8th Feb and still not have been sent on to my Buyer?

Thanks everyone else for your replies too.

delievered to PDO can mean its been to a post offcie for collection
    a delivered track is final
it depends on the delivery set up at the recipients postal area

OP, maybe the buyer wasn't home & it's been returned to the delivery office waiting for them to arrange a redelivery

but that shouldnt track as delivered
it should track as delivery attempted, held at XX office
  • I'm sure it would be useful to a lot of people (if you felt comfortable with it) if you posted the tracking number up on here

It doesn't say delivered to xxx PDO, it just says delivered xxx PDO. This means it has been delivered to the recipient, not delivered to the Delivery Office!
