I really sympathise with you. I had a Jack Russell thrust on me once. The rest of the family it loved and it hated me. The dog used to poo in the living room every night and pee constantly, I tried to train it but it seemed it was incapable of training. It was also destructive to the extreme. I ended up putting it in a dog cage overnight out of desperation.
I went back to work and the dog had to go as it would have been alone all day. I don't know what you can do. could you insist on a kennel being built in the garden for them so they can stay there when you are home alone? The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
Got no advice for you sorry, but would like to say your husband should never have got one dog never mind two dogs knowing how you feel about dogs. I hope you can find a solution

Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it.
They have a kennel outside but they have never been in it, they sit barking and scratching the door when put in the garden . Unfortunately my dryer is at the bottom of the garden so they would push passed when I went out to it and obviously they don't o anything I ask them lol
At the moment they are locked in the back room and conservatory when DH is at work but unfortunately that area of the house then becomes out of bounds for me as cant get in or out the door without them escaping!!!!
Maybe tats the answer, get a full time job :-)0 -
Keeping dogs locked up on their own without human contact for long spells isn't a good idea. Maybe they would be better off (and subsequently better behaved) if they went to live with someone who has more time to spend with them.0

Get in touch with a dog listener. They will teach YOU how to manage the dogs, rather than the dogs managing you.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0

Bottom line is, it's YOUR house, not the dogs', so if you're not happy, get them re-homed. If hubby complains threaten to get him re-homed, too :rotfl:
If you really don't like dogs it shouldn't have got to the stage where you have one, let alone two of them.0 -
If you really aren't valued to the extent that he gets two dogs he is incapable of controlling (it's his fault they are badly behaved), then has the gall to blame you for his failures in training and socialisation, I'd be seriously looking at whether he actually wants me there at all.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

For a start, is your husband cleaning up the dog messes?0

That's the thing, I'm not sure he does... I know 100% that given a choice me or them, they would win hands down. Unfortunately though the kids love them too and DH has always made a massive issue how 'shouty mum' is always nasty to the dogs0

I really sympathise with you hun, it must be a horrible situation. I think the only solution is to get a dog trainer in. Dogs will always try to assert dominance in a pack (family) situation and it sounds as though they have realised that while they can't dominate your husband (he's top dog) they can dominate you through fear. Please don't see that as a criticism of you because it really isn't.
Have a look through the yellow pages and maybe ring a couple of local kennels to see if they have a trainer that they would recommend.
Dogs who are trained are happier than those who aren't and I think you certainly would also be happier.
Best of luck0
