And I'm sure you'll feel 'forced' to claim it rather than upset the kind poster who passed on the information....:rotfl:
Wkat a rather silly and childish comment to make!
I sure will do whatever is best for my wife and I as long as it is legal and that I am entitled to it.
All I asked for was a pointer. I have had them thankyou. Obviously I will check it out with the PS first.
It seems that there are many on this site that see people that claim benefits as fair game to have a go at than instead of offering good advice on what is and isn't possible.
Much better to know exactly what the law says and use it.0 -
And it isn 't silly and childish to be constantly boasting about how much you get from the State whilst shedding crocodile tears about how obscene the system is?
You're having a laugh......aren't you?
Otherwise, why not write to your MP detailing your situation and complaining about how obscene it all is?
I'm sure IDS would love some helpful suggestions about how to reduce the benefits bill.....:D0 -
I wish I could earn £200 per week, I am self employed, work 7 days most weeks and often long hours and I'm lucky if I end up with £100 a week earnngs!!
That's a perfect example of why our benefits system is flawed - you work hard for a living and are far worse off than someone who can sit home all day claiming money that the rest of us pay for with our taxes.
Rotoguy, if you can't spend it, why claim it? Just because you're entitled to it doesn't mean you have to have it. I have a disability and could probably claim some benefits but don't because I prefer to earn my own money, not rely on others to pay for me.0 -

It's encouraging to read such posts. I hope your business improves and your earnings increase. My son-in-law's job is low paid and he works a 65 hour week, which includes 20 hours overtime. His take home pay enables him and his family to pay their way, but not for luxuries. Their car, for example, is 10 years old.
I wish he didn't work such long hours, but the overtime is not constant, and so he's grateful for the opportunity, when it arises.
There's a huge difference between being called "benefit bashers" and being amazed when someone brags about the fact that they have £200 more benefit money than they know what to do with, and hardworking people like Dollardog would be pleased to earn that amount!
I get benefits. My DH gets DLA and we both get the State Pension, WFA and a Freedom Pass. But even with Private Pensions, that we contributed to, we don't have lashings of surplus money, and certainly not more than we had when we were both working full time.
I hope everyone who has fallen on hard times, gets the support that they need, but I also hope that those who are working hard do not feel that, in comparison, they're the ones who have fallen on hard times.

Haha!! I have already written to the editor of the Daily Mail, setting out what we get, why we get it and showing that it is too much for our needs. Damien Collins MP & IDS were both copied in.
I am now waiting for answers as well as a possible article in the paper!0 -

I didn't realise until very recently that I could claim it and was entitled to it.
Welfare Rights/my social worker and the council encouraged us to make the claims.0 -

I agree. The reason for the money is simply that pension credit pays it and that we are both disabled and care for each other.0 -
I too have written to the daily mail with links to your posts, I think it only fair they publish what you get in benefits, what is it over £600 a week? As there are so many old folk dying of cold or not eating properly due to being poor, I think it only fair they see what they can claim and get on to it straight away. I hope they do interview you rotoguys as it will be good for the OAPs to have a spokesman telling them what they can claim.
I also hope the mail gets in touch with various benefits agencies and welfare rights workers telling them its their duty to inform the elderly and sick that its their legal duty and right to claim everything they are entitled to, with a bit of luck the old and infirm will become much much better off and live a hell of a lot longer0 -

and get paid for caring for each other too perhaps?
how do you manage it when you can't walk? Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0 -

Pardon? You said in another post that your wife received the State Pension, but you hadn't reached pensionable age yet. If your wife gets the State Pension, I didn't think she could claim Carer's Allowance as well, or am I wrong?
And how do you get Pension Credit if you're not a pensioner yet? Surely only your wife would get it? Obviously there are many strands to the benefits system.
I repeat what I said before. I hope everyone who has fallen on hard times, gets the support that they need, but I also hope that those who are working hard do not feel that, in comparison, they're the ones who have fallen on hard times.
