Sony are the ones that have made this whole lanch a big mess as the lasers that reads the games were faulty and this is why the release date was put back to now for this country. Had they got their finger out their bum last year when they knew about it then it might have made it out for xmas. I was going to buy one and sell it on e bay but don't think it will be worth the hassel now. The mainstream shops seem very well prepared for a change and with it being so expensive it is only the serious gamers that will have saved up to buy one.
I think I will wait for a year or two when the price is more reasonable before buying one for me.

Ebay notice on PS3 sales.....

Due to the high demand and limited supply of the Sony PlayStation 3 gaming systems, eBay is taking strong measures to protect both buyers and sellers within our community.
During the pre-sale period, which lasts until 23rd March, you must comply with the following requirements in order to pre-sell a European region PS3 console:

You must offer PayPal as the only payment method.

You must be PayPal verified and link your eBay account to your PayPal account. Find out how to become PayPal verified. If you already have a PayPal verified account, you need to link it to your eBay account. Find out how to link your eBay and PayPal accounts.

You can only pre-sell PS3 consoles using the auction format during the pre-sales period – you cannot pre-sell the consoles using Buy It Now.

One-day listings are not allowed.

In order to list more than two PS3 consoles in the pre-sales period you must have more than 50 feedback, of which at least 98% must be positive.

If you’re pre-selling a PS3 console, your listing must comply with eBay’s Pre-Sale Listings Policy.
You must guarantee that the item will be dispatched by the 30th day from the closing date of the listing on eBay.co.uk.

For any one banking on these being rare, be careful :money: I've just had a phone call from my local blockbuster who say they notice I often rent console games and would I like a PS3 guaranteed for the day of release as they have some orders spare.

They were prepared to increase the freebies currently advertised and give me 5 free rentals worth £3 each plus a game at a highly reduced price (discount to be negotiated). They didn't seem at all surprised when I declined, mind you I think the freebies currently being offered by my local Virgin store beat the 5 free rental and a cheap game deal.

PS3s would seem to be still available for pre-order at every shop that will be selling them.

As to the Ebay listings it is interesting to see the number of deliberately misleading ones that are now on there - they are selling the HK models but advertising them as UK.

Example title "Sony Playstation 3 PS3 Console UK POWERSELLER In Stock"

Link to Completed PS3 Listings on eBay.

They are just about selling for RRP + P&P at the moment. Although the first day rush has not been anywher near the level for the 360 or Wii, most stores are expecting to sell out within a week or so. If anyone has bought to resell, probably prudent to hold onto them and wait for the gap between selling out and restocking.

And for the record, it is AWESOME on a HD Plasma!!

I'm old enough to have a kid that would be excited about one, but I took the day off work for the delivery and uninterrupted gaming. I was almost ashamed, but the delivery driver said most of the consoles he'd delivered this morning where to excitable men in their 30's! Including my neighbour!

LOL. We have a 360 and i've bought a Wii for my g/f which is coming next week. I bought the 360 for PGR and Call of Duty, and the Wii is being bought for Zelda.

I will buy a PS3 but will probably wait now until Gran Turismo comes out.

I think its a big criticism of the PS3 though - there are no real 'must have' games out there.

Will be interested to here from the OP - he had SIX on order.

yeah i find it very amusing! additionally, some may even see it as negative marketing for sony. under-valuing a newly released item. not good at all...
