March is the release date for the new Playstion 3, now how about this for an idea, get booking those playstation 3's so you can sell them on e.bay, if it's anything like the x.box 360 and WII you could easly x4 your money,
and apparently shops like Dixons and Game will even give you your money back if you return the item still sealed so its a no loose situation.

the reason 360's and Wii's made big money was because it was prior to christmas at the height of the 'silly season' where people will pay anything to keep junior happy on christmas day.
Not so in march or april. There is little consequence for people in waiting an extra week for a unit to arrive into GAME, hence whilst there will be some 'must have' purchasers around, chances are they have theirs ordered through GAME or somewhere anyway.
Also, GAME are usually canny enough to sell new consoles with a handful of games for them to maximise the sale and also stop ppl like you and me buying the item at list price to resell on fleabay.0 -

Selling PS3s on eBay is liable to be quite a minefield at first. Not only will there be many buyers out to scam eager sellers, but there will also be eBay vigilantes out to spoil any auction that they consider to be a hoax/unfair and no doubt spoiling several genuine auctions in the process.0 -
thats not to say there isn't the potential for money to be made. There will be some areas where there are a shortage of machines and if you can get them at list price and sell them for more to people in those areas via ebay then great. be aware though that ebay will be rife with scammers, non payers, and 1000's of other people doing the same thing.
Edit :- was typing the above at the same time as you NightSwimmer!0 -
Oh, and i got suspended from ebay for selling an xbox 360 by VERO - as they aren't fond of ebayers reselling consoles...0

It seemed like a good idea but after your comments....it doesn't seem such a good idea,
If i had the money i would just order one for myself and try to sell it; then if it didn't sell i would keep it, but as i'm in so much debt i can't even do that.
I can just dream of orting myself out to be able to play on consloes.0 -

I was tempted by this, until someone pointed out an analogy with tickets to gigs and the like.
Tickets for big gigs sell out quickly, and within minutes touts have them up on eBay at vastly-increased prices. Touts drive me up the wall, so why would I want to be a ps3 tout?
For those of you considering it, though, check out this graph. Basically shows the average price of ps3s on eBay at the American launch. Only very briefly [a day or so] do they make absurd money, and a week after launch they're making around $300 profit tops. This backs down to $150 profit after 3 weeks. So don't expect them to all sell for 4 times RRP.
Also note that graph was under Christmas times, so loads of people buying for presents. I don't see that happening over here. To be honest I reckon the launch'll be a damp squib.0 -
Ebay are cracking down hard on PS3 resellers this year can't find anything in the help section but there was an announcement a while ago think it's one PS3 allowed to be sold per ebay account as well as time restricitons on presales.0

Its a very interesting topic and i am thinking you are all right with your comments about e-bay cracking down and the fact its not Christmas;

I have decided to start this thread for people like me that are ebay addicts. I have preordared 5 PS3 each at £425 from amazon. i am planningto sell them on ebay once they are released. I thought there is always a demand and suplly issue around things like this so thought i might as well make a few pounds:D
Do you guys think there there will be a shortage with the ps3 as there was with the wii?? And also how much do you think i can make per ps3 unitsince i purchased then for £425 each?
were ever there is a gap in the market i am happy to plug it:D0
