  • Unfortunately Postmen are nothing like Santa, and cannot deliver every piece of mail in the mornings.

Just like you work until 5pm or whatever - so do they.

Im amazed some folks cant see the correlation
back in the 2 delivery days
Delivery offices had night shifts, much more staff, started earlier, all full time and shorter deliveries.
so of course they got out and completed earlier
times change, some folks don't seem to grasp that
  • Don't call me thick. i don't insult you, do I? When you resort to those means then you're losing the argument. At least I can type and spell correctly. Touche? It wasn't a question of 'not bothering' to do my own handling. It was a question of not knowing about it. It's not my field of work. You know about it because you're an ex employee of RM. By the way, can this be done online, or do I have to do it by post? How much does it cost do you think? I would imagine with good business practice RM wouldn't do this without making a profit - that's what business is all about, isn't it? Also, what business do you know that only opens to the public from 8am until 2.15 (where I live those hours are on a Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri). Oh, but I did lodge my complaint about cutting staff numbers and my fear was...yes, that's right, a rubbish service and having to pay more for it. That suit you? Tell me, why did they bring in the different size of letters, ie large letters? Would it have anything to do with getting extra money. My card, in that instance, was very light and small. It was just petty and miserly. I never used to complain about anything, but now that's changed and I hope more and more people stop putting up with a second rate service - with any business. RM ought to be careful because in this day and age of automation, ie emails, etc, they're in a very precarious position.

    ... Told you, it's profit for profit's sake. ...

Profit?! If the Royal Mail was actually making a profit there wouldn't be a problem. Sadly it's a real struggle to maintain services with declining volumes and thus revenue, particularly when customers are reluctant to part with their money.
  • Good, glad RM are getting less and less mail to deal with. That means loss of revenue, hence putting up postage, etc, to compensate because we, the customers, are either going elsewhere or using other means to communicate. Serves them right. I never have a problem with paying for any decent service and I support British industry all the way except....what I do object to is paying more and more for a service that keeps deminishing. Give us a better service and none of us mind paying, at least I don't. Sorry, I mean give us a service very like we used to have and I'll definitely not mind paying for it. I used to be a letter writer and love receiving letters from others - blow that! Email for me and others! It's cheap by comparison and quick. If I have to send a parcel then I download the postage online - but wondered why I have to use that postage in a very short amount of time until I was told that if postage goes up then my downloaded postage was nul and void! Kerching to RM! You can't win, can you? Catch up RM or think of what happened to the Titanic. Trouble with you, Custardly, you have blinkered vision.

yeah, you have to use the postage incase the postage goes up
that why 1st & 2nd class stamps carry no stated value :rotfl:
with every post you demonstrate less and less knowledge.
so at the start RM was all profit, you seem to have done a 180 on that?

    no answers,just whines.
    off you pop now

your mail should be delivered by 3pm at the lastest. anything after this time you need to complain 08457740740. With the fee sorry but you would have to pay a fee with all companies to clear the item for you. unless as stated by other posters you ask the sender to state duty to be paid by recipient. (keep in mind this will delay your items for a matter of weeks)
    cracker challenge silver: £610/£1010.00 :j

do you know where they live?
if not then you are giving incomplete advice
the aim is 3pm for town duties
    4pm rural
however the USO does not make that compulsory

It's not just RM. It's the same with almost every postal service. The US postal service lost $5.1 billion last year.

Even more off-topic for a second... first-class postage rises to 60p, so the headline in the Express... £1 postage!! The Express's P1 leader is that one day stamps may rise to £1. Blooming ridiculous. How about leading with Milk £1/pint!! Yes, one day milk will cost £1/pint, so will stamps cost £1 each, that's inflation which is central to capitalistic growth. Vent over.
