royal mail doesnt listen to complaint

for a while my post has been arriving damaged almost all packages have what looks like finger holes in them so people can almost have a look what is inside them and letter regularly look like they have been resealed.
the postman also insists on folding all the post in half resulting in my birthday cards and also what looks like my valentines day (haven't opened it yet) card to be ruined.
i never catch the postman in time but in the past when i have spoken to him he seems to show a limited understanding of the english language.
i have made several complaint to royal mail in the form of emails and on twitter and all have been ignored so the damaged carries on and im worried one day my post will start going missing (may have already as i am a regular comper so may have had prizes)

how long is normal for the royal mail to get back about problems as ive complained many time for around 4 months now

have you tried going down to the local delivery office and complaining to the manager there , at least you know they are getting the complaint, rather than someone who just sits in an office

What's the point in having an on-line complaints service if it's just going to be ignored? Sadly this may be the only option left.

The official line is here. The OP's complaint should be handled within 30 days.

You're probably less likely to be ignored using the online complaints system, since using that all the complaints are properly logged, and if there are too many complaints against an office then more senior managers are going to take action against the DOM.

That's the theory at least, it seems like the most senior managers with Royal Mail are trying to make it awful so that privatisation isn't as controversial

All online complaints reach the delivery office through the CLEO system. Document and photograph any damaged items, upload the photographs to something like photobucket, and show them on twitter the damage that's happening.

I have to ask, do you have a draught excluder fitted to your letterbox? Have you tried to post a single letter though it without putting your fingers through it? Remember posties shouldn't put their fingers through for fear of dogs/cats/ canaries.

so what exactly do you mean by finger holes?
are you talking about soft items wrapped in brown paper, cardboard, boxes or what?
  • Wow OP do you live on my street? Spooky that we are having similar problems at the same time although all our posties (3 different "regulars" at present!) are English. I know what you mean about the finger hole. One end is open enough that you could get a finger inside and poke around.
  • i sent pictures to them of the damage
the finger holes are in jiffy bags, brown paper wrapped items and cardboard boxes
my letter box is one that you lift the flap and slide it through you can get even the thinnest letter through easier without bending it and no need to push it through with you fingers.

Whilst standing on one leg with your eyes closed and whistling the national anthem?

well many people think their letterbox is fine
however the postie has to open that with one hand, with the letters in it
the other hand has a bundle of mail and a bag on the shoulder.
