Maybe I'm in the minority again, but personally I'd rather the seller gained a few extra pennies in postage than eBay benefiting from them being charged a higher FVF. If they lowered postage but increased the bid price I'd still end up paying the same anyway so would make no odds to me.

I think that you're missing my point ebay are likely to put a stop to it by charging fvf on the overall costs, due to sellers thinking that they've got one over on ebay.
This is already being done on ebay.com, as soolin has said below.
These sellers aren't doing themselves any favours in the short term as buyers will mark them down & they will then lose the ability to sell at all.

EBay.com do charge FVFs on the postage charged in some (not sure it is all) categories already.

It's probably sellers who overcharge on p&p that mean postage caps have been set on some categories.
I wonder how long it will be before ebay start charging fees on the overall price, inc p&p. They must know that sellers up the postage to lower the fvf payable.
I'm sure then that the sellers who complain the loudest will be the ones who are overcharging at the moment.

    Could not agree more :T

I often read the community boards (with a tin hat on) and you see the same people over and over. It seems the ones who think stars are a nonsense and sellers should be able to charge whatever they like for postage are the same ones posting later that ebay have restricted or suspended their accounts for a poor dashboard.

There was one only last week (maybe 2 weeks ago), ranting about being suspended WITHOUT WARNING and someone linked him to earlier threads where he was claiming that sellers could charge what they liked as if a buyer left a low star for P and P you could always phone ebay CS and get the star removed as it was obvious they agreed to the charge when they bid.
