Another postage query

A seller has four identical items for sale. They were BIN with £3.50 postage. The listing said she would combine postage so I emailed her to ask the price.

She emailed back a day later to say she had been to the post office and they had told her it would be £7 for 2.
I've taken the package to the post office to get an exact price and it will be £7.00 for the first class parcel service after all

I bought the 2 and paid £7 postage.

The items arrived today, in very good time. They were very well packed in recycled newspaper and a recycled box. That's great. But the post office charge was £4.41.

Now, I know postage causes lots of debate on here, but I do feel that's a little OTT, considering she told me the PO had quoted £7 - a huge fib.

I have sent her an email thanking her and letting her know the packaging was perfect and I was glad she had recycled. But I did say I was a little surprised at the PO charge being £4.41.

I will update when/if she replies, but am wondering now about stars if I don't hear or get a refund.

She has only 5 feedback, so yes is very new.

What do you think?

Are you happy with the items? Did you get a bargain on the cost of these?

Is it really worth squabbling about over a few quid?

I think when I specifically ask about combined postage as the listing says.....I always combine postage.....and them am told the 'exact price' quoted by the PO is £7. Then yes, It i worth quibbling.

The fact I am happy with the items is immaterial. I am not happy being lied to.

First class would have been £7.18, if it weighed around 2kg. I wonder if her being a new ebayer she has confused 1st class & parcel post up.
She may not have even realised, that when she said parcel post it was a different service to 1st class.

Maybe the post office gave the incorrect price to the seller? I'm not deliberately trying to get your back up by the way, I'm just wondering if it's worth the hassle for under £3

That could be it. The label says SP which I believe is standard parcels, so not the service she was quoted or I was buying.

It's nearly 60% more than actual cost!

    And your point?

It isn't proportional to the charge and information given. I was told it was £7 for first class. I got standard parcels and at £4.41.

If you think that's acceptable the your stars will be hit.

So do you want the entire £2.59 back? If the parcel had arrived with £7.18 paid, would you have contacted the seller stating you were refunding them 18p?
