I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

    Good Morning All

    Best of luck Sunflower

Nmlc - I do use a mature cheddar for Mac cheese and I also add a teaspoon full of made mustard as this brings out the flavour of the cheese.

Really really feeling the cold this morning, once have dropped DD at the train station will get on with the hoovering and ironing so that should warm me up :o The house also needs a good tidy - been running around like a blue ars**d fly the last few days and everything has begun to slip.

Think will be chilli for dinner tonight if I can bring up the courage to venture out to the garage.

Have a great day & keep safe and warm.x

Morning everyone. I'm ill again as usual, but life must go on, I have finally dragged myself out of bed as I have uni today and need to go to the shops. The last of the bluberries will go in pancakes for late breakfast and the freezer today. No other cooking or cleaning to be done, I'm up to my eye balls in soup and chilli portions and lovely HM bread, I'm a wee bit obsessed with my bread now I'm getting it right :o

    Good Morning Friends,

I have missed you all over the lst couple of weeks but should now be able to get back to posting daily
:j:j:j:j:j Our boiler is fixed, yeeeeeeeeeah:j:j:j
My wonderful DH managed to fix it, he has replaced quite a few parts and probably has cost us around £100 but much better than a new boiler. So last night about 9.00 we had hot water. The four of us queued up for a shower and then we chilled on front of the tv nice and toasty, I think that was probably the best shower I have ever had, we were a lovely clean and shiny happy family:D it's amazing what you take for granted until you haven't got it.

Anyway what have I missed, JackieO A very happy belated Birthday:beer:it sounds like you were thoroughly spoilt, you are such a lovely mum and grandma you really deserve it.
Sunflower hope things go well today, lots of positive vibes for you hunx
Bargainbird I love your kitten too

Love and hugs and postive vibes for anyone else having a tough time.

    So todays jobs are:

Wrap up 9 ebay parcels for posting
Make a pork and bacon sauce with leftover pork to go over pasta for tea.
    Quick swish and swipe
    Have another lovely hot shower:D
Nip to Ikea for the rest of my kitchen cupboard handles.
A sneaky hour catching up on Biggest Loser

Have a special meal out this Saturday as my DH MIL is eighty so 10 of us for a family meal. She is a lovely lady who never has a bad word to say about anyone so will look forward to that.
Also need to call and see my DB who has a birthday on Friday.

The other good news this week is that our youngest has been offered a place at 6th form for September. We are not sure if we wll be in Australia by then but it is reassuring to know he has a place if not.
Anyway this is turning into an essay, have a good day all and keep safe and warm J x

Hello all I'm a new poster to this forum (posted yesterday for first time). As you'll guess from my moniker I'm in Dundee. We have no snow but it's cold and icy.

"Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen pounds nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery." Well last year was ending with misery. I'd found an Alvin Hall book in the charity shop and that triggered memory of joining MSE a while back. Spent some time working out what should come out of my salary, what out of OH's (we have a car loan, a bike loan, 2 at uni and the last hopefully going Sept so they're all coming out of OH's, I'm covering the rest). Have done first trawl through SOs / DDs and cancelled / reduced by about £100 a month

Jan's challenge was the GC, Feb I added NSD. Jan saw me set up spreadsheet, Feb saw addition of cheap diary to write spendings in immediately (amazing how quickly one forgets...) Moved from Tesco to Lidl which has been an eye-opener. Freezer now totally under control :T. Next job - toiletries. I swear they've been breeding!!!

This year's overall aim is Annual income twenty pounds annual expenditure twenty as I think this year and next will be our most expensive.

    Morning my lovelies :D

Like all of you its cold enough to freeze the brass balls off a monkey and I have Forest School this afternoon with DD. Cross your fingers, pray to your deity of choice that the temp doesnt rise above freezing so we dont have to go ;)
BM on, WM on, need to clean bathroom and tidy up mess upstairs. Killer cat brought a mouse upstairs to play with and has left a load of what appears to be dried mud everywhere.......fear not no blood today :rotfl:
I have a man coming round to take measurements for our new conservatory so I hope he's quick about it ;)

Not much else going on. Tea is a makeshift as I have tap tonight.

Collecting our new puppy on Saturday, kids are VERY excited, I am excited-come-OMG it will be like having a toddler that CHEWS everything at home :o

Sunflower - Hugs and positive vibes for you lovey xxxx

Bargainbird - DD will be begging to go back to school, heat or no heat :rotfl:

nmlc - you could try adding a bit of mustard to your cheese sauce, helps give it a bit of flavour.

Hugs and spoons all round, have a good day OS or not.

    Morning All,
We have some very light snow falling this morning, DD just phoned to say that the bus route in the village has changed because only the main road has been gritted & the buses are running late so she is going to be late for work :(
First thing this morning I could be found pouring 51l of water down the waterfall into the pond to get the pump going, although we had a lot more snow last year I never had this happen so I can only assume the temps are lower. Yesterday we had to reinstate the litter tray for the cats as we seem to have had a nocturnal visitor a few times so now we have to close the catflap overnight. I feel a bit mean but the visitor was spraying, which was upsetting our animals, did leave the shed door ajar tho' just in case it really did have nowhere else to go.:o
Best wishes to Sunflower for today & Welcome to Newbies:wave:
Hugs, spoons & Hi5's as usual,
Keep warm & safe everyone x
