tell him to make sure he switches roaming off on his phone, as he can gat a heafty bill when he comes home.

and tell him to make sure they get a safe when they get there, put all there money in it, and only take out what they need each night, plus split the money up, some in their pockets, and a bit extra in their socks (fi they wear them) just incase they run out, don't wear jewellery, and tell them to always look after there mates.

altough he will listen, but it will all go in one ear and out of the other...........lol

He is paying to use the safe at the apartment complex, they all are chipping in for that thank you for that, he wants to take his watch other than that he is not taking anything else, he knows about pickpockets especially around busy places like markets etc, his dad always either does not take his wallet out then or puts it in his front pocket or top pocket so he knows that and does that himself.

He has insurance for the holiday, should he have that E11 is it? That is medical insurance is it not?

I told him to get holiday insurance seperate to the holiday but at the time they did him a good deal all inclusive so he took that, he has transport too and from the airport included.

if its Europe he's going to, then yes, he needs an EHIC (this is still free so get him to apply for it now). He should take this with him, along with his travel insurance policy.

  • You can apply for the EHIC online - when I did mine it took about 10 days to arrive.

  • Take a photocopy of his passport, and keep in a safe place in case he loses his whilst abroad. This can help speed up a replacement one. Ideally he should take a photocopy too and keep it separate from the original.

Other than that there's not much else you can do but grin and bear it!!

Thank you never thought of that one, will do that tomorrow, thank you very much.

I know I am going back a long time now but you used to have to carry your passport about with you for ID do you still have to do that these days or should he just leave it in the safe in the apartmet complex?

  • Not that he'll listen, but he won't be covered on the insurance if he gets drunk and falls off a balcony/dives headfirst into the shallow end of the pool or does anything potentially expensive whilst under the influence.
