    Hi

Just dropping by to say im following I only have 16 months until the big 40 and would like to be debt free when i get there too. Lots of hard work and cutting back but i agree the feeling of paying with cash is a good feeling, plastic is so yesterday :rotfl:

Just had a look at your signature. Very impressive debt reduction there!! Well done. Hopefully as you get lower does this mean you pay more off the debt rather than it just being more interest? We will get there. We will, we will.:T

Its not that impressive DH sold his car which gave us a big boost but now all of it except about £3k is on 0% so hopefully it will give us a chance to clear it we earn good wages so there is no reason but now DH is on board spending is at a minimum life can be very boring.....
I cancellled all DD's that werent essential and that included sky was an interesting conversation with DH the day it went off LOL but we have got by no problem and we are £40 a month better off.
    MARCH 2016 DEBT £25750/ £25035
EST DFD JAN 2021 (that needs to change)
NOW JAN 2019 (that still needs to change)
  • Hey ho another day,

DD off today on Inset day and going to a sleepover tonight, so she asked for her pocket money to go and buy some sweets etc to share. Normally there would already be some in the house, but not now we have been tightening up what we buy. I loved the way she just asked for her pocket money, rather than asking me to buy them for her :T but I may offer to give her half towards them (£1.50).

Can't believe half term has come around already. In October we promised DD we would decorate her room (pre LBM) these holidays, as she wants a more grown up room i.e. no Bratz, so that needs doing. Doing quite well so far. Bought a fitted sheet and pillowcases on offer plus the quilt cover she wants I have found for £11, rather than the £25 one she saw first (exactly the same!)
Light shade is £3.98 in sale.

Paint bought on offer with cash ;) and managed to get the carpet down from £70 to £55. Carpet fitter friend will fit it for us. I had already managed to put this away over a few weeks. All in all a much cheaper renovation than ever. Just need to work out where I can get a cheap blind instead of the fraying cerise one already up, but that will need to wait till after payday. Hang on, did I really say that will have to wait? Progress for me :money:

Hope everyone is having a good day

Well done on the renovation of the bedroom, Im sure it will look lovely. We did DD2's last year when he light bulb was flickering very very brightly but not fully lit ! it looks great though and was done on a very small budget, we bid for some furniture on ebay that she loves as well. Sometime I do wonder why on earth I spent so much on things like blinds many moons ago !! Have you had a look on ebay for a blind for her, you never know what you might find ?! :D

Hi, this is the recipe for the soup we were discussing on my diary!

    http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/7003/carrot-and-coriander-soup

I didn't even know there was a BBC Good Food website but I used to buy the GF magazines when I was 'pretend' rich! I rarely made anything, just looked at the pictures!

For a slow cooker you apparently add less liquid, but I didn't know that being a first-timer. When it was cooked I just drained off a bit of the excess and have saved it to use as a lovely stock in my next venture!

Well done on the frugal re-decorating too.
LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!

Debt May 21: Unsecured ZERO! ZILCH! Mortgage £22,332
  • :)Well, here we are again. No news on the debt busting front but have managed to keep the decorating of DD's room within a MSE budget. Found a perfect blind in the sale for £20, less than half price and is a lovely rich colour.

My cash withdrawal system has gone a bit haywire this week with it being half term. DS needed karate gear because he's gone into the next class and DD has been chosen for advanced singing lessons - another £25 per term, and I've started a ww class.:( Have paid in advance to keep me going and save money. Am determined to stay within overdraft this month. No more charges is my number one target. Have plenty of food in the fridge/ cupboards and petrol in the car. It makes such a change knowing how much money is in my purse and paying cash!!!
    Have a good day everyone

  • I absolutely love paying cash now !! Infact I feel quite smug handing over real money, not pretend !

Well done to your DD for being chosen for the advanced singing lessons. They are pricey though aren't they ? My DD1 has 2 a month which is bad enough, but DD2 has been asking recently for some as well  I told her to ask her big sister to teach her instead !!

Im glad the bedroom is done, am sure its looking lovely !

    Have a good day x

Another vote for cash here too! You can't beat 'real' money for keeping a sense of perspective in shops.
