Sounds like a prank to me (rather than a scam).

Is the petrol station still operating?
is it the auld brigg station?

    Thanks.
  • There was another forum on this subject that gave out a fair bit of into, albeit in amongst some humour. It however, seems to have been shut down... perhaps because some of the posts were libellous. Anyway, the garage does still seem to be operating but I believe there have been a few problems of late. There's not much into available on the web - found a website which seems to be pure satire: http://uk.geocities.com/mvpauk/

It would be good if some genuine members could post some genuine updates as to how the place is operating at the moment.
  • Everything started off fine, was filling my tank for a tenner.

Then there was some stuff in the local newspaper, and the station ran out of fuel. After a week of fobbing us off they explained that because of the bad press their bank had frozen their account, so they couldn't pay to get more fuel. They told us all to come back next week.

I went in this evening, filled up, went to pay, and with no warning the price has gone up to approx 86p per litre. No explanation as to why. No notices, no nothing.

As posted above their little booklet states "...the vehicle will be able to avail itself of ... fuel ... at cost price to the Association (approximately 35p per litre) ...". Now I'm not a mathematician but there's a huge difference between 35p and 86p, and it's not what I'd call 'approximate'.

If anyone knows a friendly lawyer I'd be happy for some advice right about now...

I went in last week to enquire about joining and not 1 member of staff spoke to me apart from saying pick up a leaflet.

The leaflet still says that petrol should cost about 35p give or take a few pence but the pumps were selling at 85p.

Now to pay £100 to join and only save 10p/ litre seems like a bit of a gamble to me.

Anyone got any updates on this??
  • seems like the bubble has burst as predicted back at the very beginning.
