Thanks for that very interesting. Looks like you benefit the longer your a member. i was on the continent at the weekend and couldnt help noticing how much cheaper fuel was over there. This scheme needs to be spread over the uk.gdallas wrote:moonrakerz, try not to be so cynical. This is not a scam, far from it. And I AM A MEMBER! Summary of whats going on, YES its 35p a litre of diesel or petrol. Its actually only 25P but they add on 10p for everheads. Lights etc. I was speaking to the genius behind not 30 mins ago, ate the filing station full of fuel!!
Basically, the company have this product in development that lowers your emissions and gives increased MPG. The £100 you give as a membership is you “contributing” to this worthwhile cause to save the planet from global meltdown, thus you get the fuel tax free because its all non profit making etc. (or something along those lines anyway) the fuel is imported from the EC. Here is a scanned copy of their membership flyer I picked up for my family when I was there today. Might fill you in a but more.

Who's "ken"?Our schools in the Wee County are famous ken for there exam records
"their" not "there"
"wrong way", do you mean "wrong with"?and I think that is reflected in here. I can see nothing wrong way the grammer.
"jist trying tay", do you mean "just trying to"?We're jist trying tay get across that this scheme isn't a fly-by-night, run by an alledged shady character, potentially liable to fall foul of HMRC, total scam to rip off folk in our sheltered community affair.
"hunners"?It is legit according to my mate from Glen Ochil an that's good enough fur me as he knows hunners about this kind of stuff.
Why is the building in that picture sinking into the ground?Happy chappy0 -
Ach yur being awfy harsh neebur. Am sure if ye read between the lines of what am saying then the true reality of my point shines through. As a Wee County bloke, am happy tay be signing up to this scheme despite the fact that it's under investigation ken.The Original Wee County Neebur0

Yes, I think I understand how this works. It won't last forever though and there's no chance it can be widened out to the rest of the country. Best of luck for now though. When the genius who devised this scheme took over the garage it was already stocked up with 30,000 litres of fuelHappy chappy0

Aye neebur, I think ye get the idea. There's nay problem jist now bit once/if they replenish stocks with yon duty free fuel then the Customs gadgie will get a wee bit angry. If/when the scheme falls foul then neeburs who huv purchased duty free fuel risk having their registered motor vehicle confiscated until the association pays up for all taxes due. The scheme is legal as it stands jist now - folk are paying £100 to the association and after 28 days can get to buy fully duty paid fuel at a cheap price from the filling station...... but that 30,000 litres of legit fuel is only going to last say long ken. The eyes of yon very powerful government agencies are trained on this one and they have the entire UK and the rest of Europe's fuel duty revenue at stake...... 'if a loophole exists, it will be closed' is what I would imagine yon gadgies are saying. Am sure that they wouldn't be vendictive enough to apply any loophole closure retrospectively like they've done in the past ye ken. Anyway, what do I know...... i'm jist happy to get ma cheap fuel for ma wee motor and am laughing at the moment as am saving so much money. Nay worries fur me ye ken.The Original Wee County Neebur0

Hello Tomstickland, just wanted to congratulate you on your excellent translation of a previous post, I live in N.E. Scotland and have to admit I was experiencing some problems translating one or two of the words myself, my main difficulty was with the word Tay, I kept thinking it was referring to the bridge of the same name, we do have many regional variations of pronunciation in Scotland however Tay is not one I have ever encountered before, the spelling I know is Tae = Too but hey I am no expert on the Doric or Scots Dialects :-)
I asked about this 'scheme' on another Forum with members who live in that area, one chap said a friend of his wife had mentioned it, apparently there is a new filling station built on the site but that is all the info he had to hand, he is going to try and find out more, although the general concensus of opinion, including mine, is that it is the proverbial 'too good to be true' and people will at some point will probably get stung. :-(Speak your truth quietly and clearly;and listen to others, even to the dull and ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and agressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit0 -
aye yer right there neebur - 'too good to be true' would be a sensible, well thought out approach. Especially if ye ken the background of yon gadgie that's running it. However, Wee County folk like maself have seen yon £ signs and are handing over oor £100 faster than you can pick a fight doon yon Primrose Bar ken. The authorities cannae really dae much jist now ken as the fuel that's being sold is legit as it was allready there when they took over the filling station and all duty and taxes paid on it. Ach naybody is bothered aboot the Wee County anyway so i'm sure they'll turn a blind eye tay it if/once they restock with duty free fuel and sell it own.The Original Wee County Neebur0

Weel noo Jimmy Neebur, it's a verry weel ye sayin foo gweed a deal it is ivnoo bit ah still canna see far the benefit is fan it's cost ye a hunner poun up front. Ye see ma problem is wi yer statement "fowk like masel are handin ower a £100 poun fester than ye can pick a fecht at the Primrose Bar". Tae me that implies that there's a lot of fowk pairtin wi their dosh, noo here's ma problem, the fuel is cheap ivnoo cos the tanks were already foo wi a duty peyed, sounds ok sae far, bit, fan this fuel is a used up an it cams tae restockin, fit if they canna get it at a price cheap enough tae sell it at .35p? The wye ah see it is a they fowks fa hiv pairtit wi a hunner poun will nae hae got their fuel an awffy lot cheaper in the lang run if this scheme gangs belly up efter the current stock o fuel is selt oot an they are shut doon by HM Revenue & Customs, the only winner ah can see is the gadgie runnin the scheme, he's got yer money.

Ahm fair disappintit tae hear that as a Scot ye wid gang an dish oot a hunner poun withoot a thocht, man ye canna gang throwin money aboot wi sic reckless abandon, think o wir reputation Man!.
Apologies to anyone who cannot understand the above, I thought it best to respond to James in our native tongue to avoid any ambiguity.
The gist of what I have written is - if, when the existing supply of fuel has sold out and no more can be obtained I cannot see the saving to those who have gaily handed over £100 upfront, especially if James is correct in his assertion that hundreds of others have also handed over £100 and if HM Revenue & Customs do indeed intervene to stop this venture the only winner I can see is the gentleman who has a pocket full of others money.
I have also issued a stern reprimand to James for such a disgraceful exhibition of reckless spending which goes against the very grain of being a Scot. :eek:Speak your truth quietly and clearly;and listen to others, even to the dull and ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and agressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit0 -
Och yuv made a fair point there neebur..... yuv opened my eyes to this and it seems that i've been caught oot again. I thought I would huv learned better after I lost that money in the Fairpak collapse. Seems like a scam right enough..... pity us Wee County folk are so naive that we're all falling fur this. Ah hope other Wee County folk read all this afair they part way there dosh ken.The Original Wee County Neebur0

Aye, yer right enough there gdallas. Yon folk fae ootside the Wee County dinnae recognise a sure thing like we do. I've been telling aw ma neeburs aboot the scheme and they're aw scraping together the £100 to go and sign up like me. There's a fair few that are suspicious of it and bring up the subject of the HMRC investigation into it, and the risk of vehicles being confiscated, the alleged shady background of yon gadgie behind the scheme, the common sense 'too good to be true' approach, etc etc. Ah set them straight though and remind them that as they're from the Wee County it's their duty to blindly sign up and get cheap fuel while they can ye ken. Ah know a sure thing when ah see it...... well apart fae that pyramid scheme ah got involved in last year...... and don't even mention the word Fairpak. The Original Wee County Neebur0
