Hard to think who this would appeal to. For many the thought that interest rates might exceed 3.5% in a few years time may put them off. For those wanting a guaranteed monthly income for several years the fact that the maximum deposit is £10,000 means that the maximum income would be £28.75 pm before tax as the rate for monthly interest is 3.45%. That is not going to help much.

For anyone prepared to have one of these bonds (despite the reservations above) but was put off by having to open it in branch.... An online version of the 7-year bond will be available from tomorrow.
