I was once walking down the street with friend of a guy from my halls of residence and some others after a night out when he excused himself and went into a halls near where we were - imagine our surprise when he emerged carrying a selection of food that he had nicked from some poor saps fridge - we were all literally aghast. So it might not be anyone on your corridor :-)
I'd go with the mini fridge.MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
I always used to put my milk in a soya milk carton. No-one is tempted to steal soya :PSealed Pot Challenge #239

My Mum had the same problem had her workplace - her sanwiches and drink were frequently nicked. So one day she made a sandwich with some very old ham and got my Stepdad to urinate in a bottle of squash.....both of these items went missing and a fellow colleague was off work sick for a few days. Mum thought she had killed her!! lol
She had a good inkling to who the thief was though.
Not saying that's the right thing to do BUT it is rather funny!!!
I laced someones drink with a laxative at work years and years ago....she was a spiteful woman....it was so worth it.0 -
I've been looking for fridges recently. This is the cheapest mini-fridge I found at £21.99:

Not really my colour though.0 -
If you go with the mini fridge option don't forget to consider how much it will hold(some hold next to nothing)
Look at reviews too because some run really noisily and others run on and off constantly. If you are a relatively light sleeper the noisy ones are out and most likely the ones that are forever going on and off too. There are some that run quietly and constantly(like a gentle hum in the background)0 -
My friend's food was stolen too. He put laxatives in the food -no more problems:rotfl:
Report the thefts to your hall warden. Tell them about it and at the same time present a letter with all the facts. Keep a paper trail of your complaints - administrators respond better to paper ( it reminds them of their responsibilities and accountability ).0 -

I love the colour on that!
You really ought to look at something like this http://www.coopelectricalshop.co.uk/Ice-King-TT60C/id-KIN-FRD-TT60C-W
I have seen similar ones for sale at around the £50-60 mark (usually in sales but it's worth keeping an eye out for them/shopping around)0 -
Do you have a camera you could set up in the camera, continuously filming?
I have a friend in university who did this after food was going missing...played it back....and watched as a cleaner helped herself to some cake that been left out!0 -
I had this problem and never really solved it - though lived in catered halls so it wasn't so bad as usually didn't try to buy meals.
Me and a friend used to keep our milk and other food on the windowsill in our room instead (this was against the rules though). Also one time our cake got attacked by a seagull, but the milk was fine.
Notes on the food didn't work. A padlock on tupperware might help a little- depends how determined the thieves are.
Can you team up with other people in the corridor to help catch the culprits?0
