Eon fixonline 9 expiring- where next?

Welcome to the FixOnline Club.
We sit around a coffe table and reminisce about how good it used to be. Sigh.
Do you not think Scottish Power fix till January 2015 are any good? (prices in my post above) The prices seems ok to be fair? I think I am looking at this option or failing that the E.ON Saveonline 11, but saying that the unit prices for the Scottish Power fixed till May 2013 seem the best of the lot depending on how the discounts work out which is confusing me!!!
I am assuming the 8% discounts I get with the EON deals ( 6% discount for paying by fixed monthly direct debit and a 2% dual Fuel Direct Debit discount) far outweigh the Scottish Power discounts? SP discounts below- Dual Fuel Discount: £16.80
- Online Discount: £15.75
One option is that there is no exit fees for the EON SaveOnline11 deal so could take that on the 27th of Feb and then monitor form there?
Thanks again0 -
We have no idea where prices will be in Jan 2013, let alone Jan 2015. Nor do the wholesale buyers at SP. So in effect you are just buying a 3 year insurance against future rises.
If you feel that you need such insurance, then fine. But nobody can tell you that it will be cheaper. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
My issue is that I am happy overall with Eon and I would like to stay...it worked out about £20 cheaper a year for us, to change to the Scottish Power Fix and that isn't enough to make me change supplier to be honest. Also that is a fix for another 3 years and in that time, the prices could go down, so it could work out more expensive and as you said, there isn't an exit fee for the Saveonline 11, so could change to anything better/cheaper IF it comes out in months to come.
I will be on the phone on the 27th/28th to see what my best options are...whatever that is, it will be more expensive!0 -

Have to humbly admit that your "gamble" of not fixing last year has paid off! Worked out that I've paid £100+ more since last Summer (when FOL v8 finished)on my EDF fix compared with staying with EON on SOL v9 - my cynicism (I believed that EON would increase the rates for SOL v9 rapidly once enuf customers were netted!) has proved misplaced.
So now I'm sweating on the results of the next 2 years increases to see whether my "gamble" of fixing til March 2014 is worthwhile.
PS I'll have a cappachino please!:rotfl:0 -

Just a quick heads up pablo and onlyme; there is an exit fee on Saveonline 11 for customers who leave before the end of the contract.
This is £30 for dual fuel and £10 for electricity only.
Saveonline 11 contracts run for 12 months from the date they are taken out.
Hope this is useful guys.

For somebody who just wants to fix and forget, by paying £200 a year premium, why not?
I do active checking, so I pay less, but it costs time.0 -

Malc
Hi Malc, thanks for the heads up on that.
Can I ask, when the unit prices are quoted with E ON, are the discounts already applied or does the "6% discount for paying by fixed monthly direct debit and a 2% dual Fuel Direct Debit discount" come off after?
Thanks
Pablo

Well its good we have a thread going about our plan ending and where next
Keep comparing but NPower GOFIX10 seems to be beating the rest in my postcode in South West
OVO ENERGY does beat it but not a fan of these unknowns
The worst thing about switching is loosing your online consumption data, and history of
(someone needs to come up with a site for that rather than relying on ones supplier)
"Npower GOFIX10" works COMPARED to "EON fixedprice saver 2013" by £326 cheaper plus £50 voucher plus £22 quidco
and compared ........to..............EON Saveonline11 by £192 cheaper plus £50 voucher plus £22 quidco
These companies are just like insurance companies rotating the better deals between them whilst not giving you the world
So unless Eon offer last minute new tarrif its NPower or OVO ENERGY - THE OVO IS ONLY £8 CHEAPER including the discounts written into the saving (i.e vouchers/ quidco)
Bring back EON Online v5 all is forgiven0 -
"quidco" offering now a £30 switch to NPower gofix 10
Go Fix tariff plus up to £30 cashback
Fix your energy prices until 8th April 2013 when you switch to npower and their Go Fix 10 tariff, paying by monthly Direct Debit and managing your account online, and earn up to £30 cashback! (more details)

or check out all of quidco offers on utility suppliers

and also "topcashback"
