You need less polish on your brush - should be just enough to paint the nail.

I don't think so - i have no problem with any other brand and go for thin layers i think its the shape of handle combined with the quite long bristles just doesn't work for me.

My nails are bare - still. They are so thin and fragile, it happens from time to time, cos of some health problems, which leads me to ask does anyone have first/second hand knowledge of the Perfect Formula stuff which is today's TSV? Nail Envy usually works OK, but does not seem to be doing much at the moment, I left them unpainted so I could keep slathering on LD Renovate and cuticle oil, but perhaps I should polish to add some strength.

Hi Maddiemay, have you tried the LD crystal nail file. I use this in conjunction with Nail Envy and my nails are in pretty good condition now.
    .

Maddiemay - echo everything Val has said, that and lashings of cuticle oil massage well into the nail, cuticle and top phalange.

I had acrylic nails removed in Nov after 12 years of non stop wear. MY nails were paper thin. I started of with LD Bio BUild which worked to begin with but i didn't see any massive improvement. I then moved on to avoplex and nail envy an my nails are better than ever before. Not perfect but growing.

Specialita, I ordered them from Brazil direct and paid 42 for all of them. Which I didn't think was too bad

Lovely freyasmum. Is the glitter just fine craft/nail art glitter?
Yup, I was all set to buy some 'special' glitters at the aladdin's cave (aka the fingernail store, spend a bomb everytime i'm there :A) when I unearthed these :rotfl:

Just make sure that they're nice and fine - too chunky and it'd stick out through the shellac/polish.

Today I've gone with the croc effect, and I'm surprised by how much I like it!!

Are they the ones from The Polished Perfectionist's blog? Can't wait to see some pics of those.

Sawan82...the croc effect looks Fab, might try mine at the weekend. Did you paint it on while the polish underneath was still tacky?

Lifeforms...you can buy 2 in 1 base & topcoats, though I prefer to use separate ones (protein base coat & quick dry topcoat).

Some lovely photos ladies, Lady S, I cannot be tempted, as unfortunately I cannot see your pics tonight.

Thank you everyone for the advice, yes I do have a crystal file and Avoplex, Nail Envy has worked in the past for me, but doesn't seem to be doing so atm, so will try the hard as nails for a while, I have also bought some Biotin and B vits (I have deficiency problems) the biotin is wonderful, but not good if excess hair is a problem as it makes hair and nails grow.

I have Stormy now too, I love it and it seemed to be pretty tough in wear, my nail wheel thingies arrived today, so I can compare all my greys, beiges, greiges etc.

Several of those Specialita polishes have now found their way onto my wishlist, which was reduced by 3 last week but is now longer than ever.

I've finally succeeded in stamping my whole nail tonight after several previous failures. Think I've got the hang of it now, but it'll only work while my nails are short. Here it is...LD Supermodel plus some gold stamping from Cheeky image plate D...
