My nails are bare - still. They are so thin and fragile, it happens from time to time, cos of some health problems, which leads me to ask does anyone have first/second hand knowledge of the Perfect Formula stuff which is today's TSV? Nail Envy usually works OK, but does not seem to be doing much at the moment, I left them unpainted so I could keep slathering on LD Renovate and cuticle oil, but perhaps I should polish to add some strength.

Sorry, it's a terrible pic, cos I just snapped it on my phone :o

But I was playing with the new silver chrome shellac and did some rockstars. I'm thinking it'll be lovely on my toes against my black flip flops

Maddiemay, a polish should help give at least some strength, as long as you're not changing it constantly. I'm not convinced a thin gel-coating would agree with you anyway, with the medication.

Well my microbeads arrived yesterday. Not had chance to try them as yet, but will do soon.

I haven't tried that but I bashed up my finger and nail pretty badly last year (don't argue with a metal gate) and resorted to nail glue to glue a large chunk of nail back onto my finger (once the bruising and swelling had subsided) and layered up with Sally Hansen Hard as Wraps. I'd recommend that to protect fragile nails. I got it in Boots and if I recall it wasn't too expensive.

  • Lovely freyasmum. Is the glitter just fine craft/nail art glitter?

I'm quite addicted to the Crackle effects currently. I saw the Barry M croc effect, but it kind of put me off being black. I did buy some silver Rimmel Crackle effect yesterday, but it doesn't seem to be as thick as the Barry M stuff. (currently have Purple, and the Gold one) Bit disappointed with the gold effect, the purple is nicer, so I'm not sure that the silver crackle from Rimmel is thinner (it might just be that way with metallics, maybe?)

I had my first manicure this weekend :o And the lady there used a base coat, but no top coat. I usually use a top coat, and never a base coat, but find with my nails that the varnish often just peels off, which makes me think that I should use a clear base coat. Is it a stupid question to ask if Base and Top clear coats are the same, or are there really enough differences to buy separately?

Currently have a red Rimmel underneath the silver Rimmel crackle, which is quite nice, just would like a more solid silver crackle.

Hi Maddiemay, have you tried the LD crystal nail file. I use this in conjunction with Nail Envy and my nails are in pretty good condition now.

I managed to get hold of the last bottle of Revlon Stormy in Kendal Poundland yesterday. I read that it was a good dupe of $OPI Metro Chic. Looking at them side by side the Revlon is darker but still a lovely colour now that I have applied it. Think I have enough greys/beiges now.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!
