Does anyone use any other polishes to do stamping, outside of Konad Special polishes?
It seems ebay has exhausted its supply of cheap ones, and can't find it elsewhere that's cheap.
Are there any other brands that will work as well?
I know you can use normal polish, but they're not as crisp, or as bold as you get with proper stamping polishes. I also struggle to mix colours on plates with more liquid standard polishes, so would prefer to locate some, just don't want to pay over £3/4ish a bottle (inc P&P). My original konads that I've bought a few years ago, still work well, but want more colours.

The Barry M metallic polishes work perfectly - I use their gold and silver all the time.

Anyone else doing the various nails by subscription services? I have done 3 nailbox.co.uk boxes and liked them so far.

  • I've just bought a bottle of Nails Inc Pro long wear gel look. The shade name is Victoria Embankment and it's the pink I've been searching for.

It's a matte finish, mid pink. I'd say it was quite neutral while still standing out; not a glaring or jarring at all. I love it. I think it would be suitable for a workplace, but it also looks great on my toes, while I'm wearing sandals during our current heatwave. Very versatile and, while it works well against my fair skin tone, I can see it also looking great on other skin tones, too.

I might even try a high gloss top coat over it; I reckon that would be really effective. While I'm there, I might also have a closer look at the other colours in the range, too. It's great to find a colour that works well for me now that I'm hitting middle age! It's lasting well on my toes, too. Doesn't seem to chip when I do put shoes in, which sometimes happens for me.

I used to be Starrystarrynight on MSE, before a log in technical glitch!

  • Does a collection of Gel Nail Varnishes count to be able to join in?. I've only had my kit for 18 months, and already have about 20 colours (not anywhere near some of your collections), and I've promised DH I won't buy anymore this year (haven't promised no more EVER!!!)

Actually what lead me here was looking for any tips for treating a large split across my thumb nail, well down the nail bed. I've cut my nail as short as i can, but i'm worried it'll split further and really hurt. Just hoping i can grow it out without catching it on anything.

At the moment, as a DIY bodge job, i've added a piece of thin tissue to the base gel coat to act as a sort of fiber-glass, and then gel'd as normal on top. It seems to be holding and doing the trick, although under a nude colour, you can see it. I'll use a sparkly darker colour next time, and hopefully that won't show as much.

any other tips you can share?? thanks.
