Im spitting atm. Put a coat of NYC Blue Denim on with a coat of technic mermaid. It looked stunning. Applied insta dri and found that it was still wet 20 mins later when half the polish rubbed off. 2 more attempts, one putting the insta dri over the NYC and then adding techic later and i think I have it sorted, until OH takes something off me a little roughly and drags all the polish off my thumb nail.

Fuming. This is my last attempt, then I'm going to bed in a huff :(

    Hello everyone :waves:

After seeing all the minnie mouse inspired nails around I decided to have a go myself since it would put my striping ape and dotting sticks to good use since ive not yet tried them.

These are just done and not yet cleaned up but I'm really chuffed with them. Never had me down as an arty person.

Had a LOL moment today, went to Sally's for a plastic bowl to put my nails in to soak when taking off glitter polishes and picked up some nail art brushes as they said £3.49, I thought bargain. Got to the till and they went through at almost £15. Told the assistant no thanks as they are far too expensive, we're definitely nothing special. So off to eBay shortly to find some as I think they would make clearing around my nails easier.
    I :heart2: saving money

Oh poor you, I go berserk when I think the nails are dry and then go and knock them and they are still a bit soft and dent.

I'm the worlds worst for just doing my nails then be busting for the toilet, :rotfl:

I'm not the most patient person so I do knock them quite a bit, but the insta dri doesn't seem to like glitter polishes as much, maybe as they are thicker?

I've learned the loo lesson though :D Always go before you start.

Hello ladies, how is everyone? My nail varnish is holding up, I've used a little glue to seal the ends of the tape.

To the lurkers that may not understand the happiness of nail varnish, let me explain (hope none of the regular posters mind):

This is my second time being made redundant, nail varnish for me is a way of having happy little pictures/art/patterns or just a lovely bright colour to cheer me up when I most need that lift. I paint other people's nails (and no I do not charge for it) to cheer them up, this ranges from my SIL who hasn't been too well and is waiting on an op (I also presented her with a canvas with a pic of her dog recently thanks to a little help from this site), I also volunteer for a cancer charity and paint various ladies nails and chat to them, the bright colours make them smile, we laugh and they share stories...... all stuff to keep their minds on positive things..........so to all negative lurkers that little bottle of nail varnish can mean a little bit of sunshine to a lot of people and make them smile when everything else might seem a little bleak..........so don't knock it when you've seen the benefits on people that need the biggest lift.

Totally agree with your sentiments as regards this. Im quite poorly but I have my nails painted every week. It really cheers me up no end and makes me feel like a woman and not a wreck x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Do it! I bought these last week and they are sooooo pretty! Although mine were bought from eBay and were closer to £8.50 ;)

I'm probably going to show myself up, but where is Sally's? I have racked my brains and can't think where Sally's could be? Maybe we don't have them here?

That's strange, insta dri has worked a treat on every polish I've used, including glitters. I don't have any Technic polishes though, so I can't vouch for it working with those.

the technic is quite gloopy because its loaded with more glitter than most others i've seen, plus I think you have a tendency to put it on thicker because of that. Anyway, fingers (carefully) crossed all is well now. Ill take a pic tomorrow because the combination is stunning :)

I've always liked painting my nails, but my passion for nail art grew last year, when it took my mind off things a lot during a health scare that seemed to rumble on forever. These days, it feels odd just to have plain, un-blinged polished nails, and my nails are almost never without any polish at all.

The argument that there is no point in nail art because it's only temporary seems odd to me. There would be little point in bothering with anything if permanence was so vital. You'd never put make-up on because it would be gone within hours anyway, you'd never read a book or watch a film for fear of finishing them, you'd never bother with hair products knowing that your hairdo would only drop out by the next morning - you wouldn't even clean your home because the beds etc would only want making again the next day.

The only permanent thing in life is the 'two-day only' DFS sofa sale.

I too have learned the 'use the loo before you start' rule the hard way, as well as the 'make sure the lid is firmly screwed down on your top coat bottle before you put it in a bag with a bunch of polishes to take on holiday' rule, not to mention the 'nail polish will seek every opportunity to spill itself on your landlord's cream carpet' rule :)
