Well, This is what I have done over the weekend

then got bored, and covered it with a coat of sparkly glitter...

then spent forever doing my nails because I didn't know what to do and ended up with neon blue, with a technic mermaid top coat

Then got bored again, and threw another load of glitter on top, with then again more technic mermaid

It doesn't matter what you use for this as you're improving the circulation which will help the nail bed.
I also used a buffer weekly so my nails were shiny, which made them look nicer while growing. Get a crystal nail file, and gently remove any jagged edges so there's no temptation to nibble at it.
My nails are extremely strong now and I have to cut them regularly as they grow far too long! Good luck - I did it and you can too
You're right about the hand cream in that using this regularly does the job as well as a cuticle oil does. Again, it's watching QVC too much that has conned me into thinking I need extra products. Maybe when my Avoplex runs out I'll try seeing how they are without an additional oil as I am always applying hand cream/lotion.
I wouldn't recommend buffing too regularly though. I did it once and ruined my nails as they became really thin - in the day before my LD file.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

I stopped with acrylics last Nov after 12years continuous wear.
Due to that and medical probs my nails were horrible.
In tried lots and lots of different treatments to try and get them to a nicestandard, but I think I have found the routine for me.
I always keep my nails painted for strength and use nail envy as mybasecoat. I oil my nails maniacally making sure I massage the nail, cuticlearea and top phalanx to encourage growth.
Same as most other is would recommend LDs crystal file.
Every so often I spend overnight polish free - and I will load my nails withoil and tidy my cuticles.
Nail oil wise I use this (eBay link) - decanted into an old avoplex bottle. It is very oily and does take ages to dry but it really has improved the healthof my nails and is so much cheaper than branded products.
I carry Avoplex on the go around with me - I commute and the train journey isthe ideal time to treat my cuticles.
I have just ordered Barriele Nail strengtheners cream and that will probablyreplace the A to go in my handbag.
My nails started flaking reallllllly bad last week so filed them right downso they don't look their best tam but at least they are healthy and I’ve completelygot rid of the flaking and when they grow up they will be strong and healthy.I wouldn't recommend buffing too regularly though. Shiny side should be fine used regularly?? Thought it was only the smoothingside that would damage if used to often.I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler0 -
I use the 4 way buffer, but only number 2 to create a smooth tip when I use glitter polishes. If they are rough i I will pick at them until the polish comes off.0

Not sure I agree on this. I've always used loads of hand cream as I have very dry skin but I'm a fairly recent convert to cuticle oil and it's made a big difference to the skin around my nails. My cuticles are much tidier. I think maybe the oil sinks in better to the thick skin on your cuticles.0 -
Well I've finally decided that today is the day I stop biting my nails. I used to just wear false nails 24/7 and paint those, but with a 14 week old baby, I don't have the time to stick them on once or twice a week, and all the time spent soaking nails to get glue off etc.
So I'll ask you experts, how can I get my nails to A) become stronger and thicker andHow do I make them grow faster?
They are realllllly short, as in couldn't even file them, not even a cm long (I'm a bad biter) What should I buy? Are there any supplements to take?
Thanks so much in advancex

Hello everyone. Went to town today in search of technic mermaid but unfortunately my local bodycare had sold out
So I went to boots and bought a LD crystal nail file as I'd been meaning to get one for ages and noticed that they had all their Essie nail care products on sale, I picked up good to go for £5.36 which was fab as I considered buying it when it was £11 odd. there were also some nails inc varnishes for £5.50, wasnt tempted with the colours.
I've been after a fast drying top coat for ages that wasn't SV so was pleased to pick this up. Tried it out this afternoon and was fairly impressed, dented one of my nails putting my shoes on after 15 minutes so even thoug it was dry and didn't smudge was still a bit soft.I :heart2: saving money0 -

Ha ha. It's lilly's fault, she started a mass stampede. Shares in Technic will leap when the stockmarket opens tomorrow following a huge increase in sales over the bank holiday weekend.
Gillyx...look back over the last few pages for advice re getting your nails on track (particularly Rachel90's posts). I don't think you can make them grow faster but you can certainly make them grow stronger/longer by following some of those tips. Good luck.0
