Today is the day that the habits of a lifetime change -I have arranged to have a manicure, bought nail envy and cuticle oil and a range of really pretty nail varnish. Now all that I need to do is grow my horrible nails to a decent length and join the members of NPAA -wish me luck please.0

s4mmy I'm growing mine too-I find painting my nails helps me stop biting them especially if I choose a brightish/darkish colour.Today I have a purple underneath and a 3d pinkish glitter on top and it looks awesomeDebts Jan 2014 £20,108.34

Good luck to all those on a new nail programme.
Love the Technic Mermaid - the-polished-perfectionist also has a swatch of blue glitter over blue polish and I MUST get Mermaid now.
I picked up Nails Inc Bluebell (pale lilac/blue) with InStyle magazine this morning. There is a choice of three pastel colours.1008 Hollywalk Park Blog0 -

I didn't think it was going to work at first, it takes a lot longer to crack than the usual crackle polishes. I like it, might try sponging my base colour next time so I can get a mottled effect.
Starrystarry - can I pleas have an idiot guide on how to get this effect?
Tried different ways on each nail and made a total mess, nothing at all like what you have got
Tried very thick layer and all I got was little lines and some dots - really bad....
Is ther a special base coat I need to use?
Their on wet, tried on dry tried on semi dry - total mess
I got Barry M Croc effect and wasted nearly half a bottle by now
Thank you.....0 -
That chunky glitter is lovely.
I am eagerly waiting the OPI minnie mouse with the hearts in it
My daughter is too. And secrety so am I xWell I would just like to say, I bought the OPI Nail Envy as someone suggested and it is fantastic. I have been applying a coat every day since I got it. Removed that lot and started again tonight. My nails look so much nicer and I really love the finish that it gives my nails. I have also now got the Leighton Denny Crystal File which I have used and so far, it seems to be great. I've been rubbing nail/cuticle oil into my nails and cuticles and around my nails every day and they seem to be so much better condition.
You are all a bad influence and I have bought a few OPI polishes
Thank you all very much for the help you gave me.
Youi're very wlecome rachel. I have been using this combo of Nail Envy and LD file for a few years now and my nails are in great shape. Which cuticle oil are you using?Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I saw all the three colours on offer this morning and was very underwhelmed. Mind you I'm not a big fan of Nails Inc anyway. Every bottle I've owned has been a creme type of formula in the majority and I prefer my nail colour to look more glossy.
If anyone's interested Lena White have an OPI Sale on today. All shatters are half price.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Oh dear, not going quite to plan so far then?
Any old base coat will do, doesn't need to be anything special. I use Nailtiques Formula 2 but it shouldn't make any difference what you use. I used two coats of the Pearly Pink. I let the 1st coat dry completely (maybe 30 mins) before adding the 2nd coat.
You need the 2nd coat to be semi dry so I just did 2 nails at a time, so I could make sure each was at the same stage of dryness when the Croc went on (if that makes sense). I left it approx 90 secs before I painted on the Croc fairly thickly. If you wipe off one side of the brush completely (2 or 3 wipes) you should have about the right amount on the brush. Try not to overlap it too much else you'll get thicker bits. Then I moved onto the next 2 nails. You could probably do 3 at a time.
It takes a few mins for the effect to appear and it keeps going for a few more mins after that so I didn't add my topcoat for about 15 mins.
I think the most important thing is to be consistent on each nail, so whether you go for little chunks (thin coat) or big chunks (thicker coat) you get the same look on each nail.
Let us know how you get on x0
