A query regarding Sky Phone/TV/BB install and are VM correct ?

Just had a thought. Another option would be to connect a WIFI router (I have a VM one and Sky will also be providing me one free as part of the offer) to the phone socket and then use a WIFI connection to my PC.

There wouldn't be any probs doing this would there ?

Edit..Wont work cos router needs to be connected to PC !

You could use a long ethernet cable from the modem/router, buy a couple of homeplugs, or a wireless dongle for your PC.

Only during the initial router set up-then you can wi-fi if you wish, instead of ethernet.

I am intrigued. How would I set that up ?

I know that I would have to connect the WIFI router to my PC and install the software on my PC to run it, etc. I then assume that I would need some sort of WIFI adaptor on my phone socket to connect to the router ? If so wot is the adaptor ? Would I need somerhing on the router to recognise the adaptor ?

Any help would be much appreciated thanks !

The router is connected to the master socket. Your router then connects wirelessly to the PC. You need to make your PC wireless enabled (if not already so) either using a USB wireless adapter or an internal PCI wireless card.
You don't need to install any software on your PC to set up the router for your ISP.

This is brilliant & if I could thank you multiple times, I would do so even though I have never done this before.

I will still try to see whether I can get Sky to set up a free connection from my phone socket to my PC, where the router/modem will sit. If Sky can't I will go with your suggestion instead.

It's much better to have your router near to the NTE5, not off an extension socket or a long trailing phone lead.

Out of interest what are the pros/cons of using the homeplugs solution compared to the WIFI router solution ?

I can see one disadvantage already as I would have to purchase a homeplug whereas the router will cost me nothing.

You will need 2 Homeplugs to make a connection-one at each end.
They wil give a connection anywhere accessible to your ring mains.
Wi-fi does not guarantee a signal in larger or more solidly constructed houses.
