    Hi
Thought I might introduce myself, as I'd like to join next week.

I'm Gill, recently widowed, with two young children. Am in the process of going back to work part time following bereavement leave, and what with nursery drop offs and fitting in an eight hour day, I need to be as organised as possible. I work mon to wed and have the children with me the other four days unless they visit granny and gramps, so you can imagine I don't have hours to devote to keeping ship shape.

I'm fairly tidy just now, over recent months I have been on a mad decluttering spree and cleaning. So it's mostly maintenance for us apart from the odd hotspot.

Just thought I'd say hi, and I'll be with you all next week.

its a new tread every week so make sure you go in to the forum on monday monday or sunday night to find the new list, i tend to pt it into my favourites then so its easier to find the rest of the week

  • I have just changed our king sized bed and thought I would tell you all that as I am completely fed up of having to reposition the memory foam mattress topper every morning so I have taken action! I have put a fitted sheet over the bed mattress to try to give the topper less reason to slide, got some strong duct tape and put this diagonally over each corner of the mattress topper. I have then put another fitted sheet over the topper. I hope this works! In addition, does anyone know please how I can stop the quilt from moving out of the corners of the quilt cover over the next few days? This is another problem I hope to solve! Thanks

Hi Gill and welcome to you . I'm sure you will find this thread really helpful as it just helps you to focus on the things that need to be done - and if you don't get them done don't worry because the room will come around again next week! I think I am different to most people as if I don't get jobs done on that particular day then I just ignore it - the more organised ones keep it on their list and go back and finish everything off properly!

    Here's my list for today:

    Morning all

MrsMP any chance of finding a home for some of the homeless stuff? It will help.

we have a lounge, small kitchen, bathroom and 5 bedrooms. four of the kids are still at home which gives them a room each but two rooms are quite small. with 4 adults a teenager and an 11 year old you can imagine we have quite a lot of 'stuff'
my hobbies dont help knitting, crossstitch, sewing, book hoarding, dh does a martial arts club so the kit and stuff for that and all his exercise intrests cause more 'stuff' he also has more dvds than we could watch in our lifetime but still keeps adding to and we rarely get rid of any as we might watch them again.
im trying to use the cupboard under the stairs as my hobby store and the overspill goes in the attic
it tends to be overspill from hobbies, half done homework and on the go projects that are homeless in the lounge.
i also iron in here so my ironing mountain (the frog) languishes behind one of the the settees, the puter table is also in here.
with the help of this thread i feel i am getting there and i can see an improvement.
but things dont last unless you stay on top of them do they, i cleared the table last week and now it has the certificate a balloon and the vid camera formthe awards evening the other night (yes they should have been put away but the certificate will stay there till i buy as frame and put it on ds wall otherwise it will get lost in his room.) theres a pile of reciepts i need to go through and a stack of recipies id printed off that need putting in my recipie book but when i tidied the kitchen they got moved into here.
im a lost cause arent i:o
