Problem after having central heating powerflushed

should have taken up a career in heating..not train driving :rotfl:0

The boilers been switched off for an hour and a quarter, Bled the rads and got hydrogen/water bubbles from
the back bedroom
the radiator on the landing
the middle bedroom
and getting bubbling/ black water from the rad in the utility room
either it needs a longer flush or the rads changing?0 -
I give up
i think i've hired the services of someone who doesn't know what the hell he's doing...
i keep asking why it's getting so much hydrogen in the rads and he keeps calling it air...since when does air burn?
looks like i'll have to replace the radiators or the boiler or both , something i can ill afford:(
as for the powerflushing...he said the boiler wasn't in the circuit when he did the job.
i asked him if the hydrogen could be being released from the boiler...he said i doubt it0 -
Dont panic, the system has been flushed and setting itself right. Just make sure the pressure on the boiler stays constant when running and when cold check how much it drops(which it will). When bleeding, that is just the pressure, normal so again dont worry. Canuckledhead was right in that this forum is not a point scoring contest. It is to help people with problems they normally could not do. The system sounds fine now. Just let it run for a time now. At least the valve was sorted.0

Hi.
Sorry I don't think the system is happy at all.
After a flush it should be quiet and efficient.
I would suggest the system be flushed with mains water from the flow and return under the boiler, by hosepipe.
The boiler can be flushed the same way, carefully, checking for any inbuilt filters in it first.
Refill with X100 again.
Test strips for acidity can be found in a pet shop/aquarium
I wouldn't get the same bloke back. If he couldn't do it the first time......

I agree, but I think the OP needs to let the system run and hopefully get back in sync. We know that most of the jokers out there that are selling this power flush service, have not got a clue. But at least this one came back and sorted the stuck valve. Hopefully no harm done.0

thanks guys..
he's coming again today to rebalance the system.
i keep telling him about the amount of hydrogen i'm getting...and i don't think he's listening/doesn't want to listen
"A new circulation pump will cure your problem"
eh? how?
going to request he flushes the central heating again...this time making sure he does all the rads or takes them off and does them manually
if that doesn't work then time to change the rads?0 -

Hi.
Any joy.

3rdy, from everything you have listed here it sounds like a system full of air locks. If its popping when you light it then you have a corrosion problem, either he hasn't carried out the flush correctly and cleaned out all of the cleaner or he didn't use any and hasn't treated the system with inhibitor either. A sticker doesn't prove anything, I know an RGI who got caught using dirty water in a labelled container to fool the customer.
If you give the IPHE a ring and ask for their advice they'll give you some good advice as well as info that may make your flush guy sit up and listen.
As for some of the advice on this forum, some is great advice, some is complete cobblers.
CH you do enough point scoring with others, or did, so stop complaining when you get it back! Remember "some people like the sound of their own keyboard!" "Knowledge is power!" payback smart Alice!0 -

He came round...rebalanced the system..noticed after he'd gone the pressure gauge had risen to over 2 bar..thought !!!!!!??? but noticed he turn the CH temp up to max..i'm not bill gates!!
say's i need a new pump because the boiler isn't getting rid of the heat/ pushing water around the system quick enough..
asked him about the gas..said it should settle down after a while, told me off for venting so much
as he left he said , if you get any problems phone me...i'm sure your going too anyway
sarky sod!!
hmm
asked him about another flush but he swore blind he'd done it properly and didn't get anything from the tests
bled the rads tonight (naughty boy) ...hardly anything but pressure has risen slightly
boilers cold.. pressure holding..not rising or dropping
hmm....0
