Ingeus are recruiting at the moment and I have a telephone interview on Friday. If successful apparently its a face to face interview the week after.
Anybody have any experience of these with Ingeus or is anyone else currently going through the process?
Also any feedback regarding working as an Employment Advisor for Ingeus would be much appreciated.

I would be very interested to know the answer too as received an email last week to say that I have passed the initial online application and am now awaiting a call to arrange a telephone interview. Good luck!0

If you believe anything on Their Website then you will believe me when I say there are green clouds in the sky.
25 companies I think they are including Australia and America and They have several Names that they operate under including Maximus and A4e etc.
There were only 3 Companys Tendering for the WP Contracts and because the other 2 didnt have any Background to judge the Gov. disregarded their 'abysmal performance on the Previous WP where they were Terminated. But they still got 5 big contracts.
On that Thread there are also links to newspapers that tell the full story and of the 8.6million she paid herself for 'failure '
I think it was on there I read of a New Advisor withdrawing their Application after reading on there.0 -
I had my telephone interview Weds and passed. I now have to go to Kings Cross, London this Thursday for stage 3 - comp based interview, role play and computer test.
Has anyone been through this process and can give me guidance on what to expect?
Thank you!0 -
Hi Emmaanddave,
Firstly, congratulations on passing the telephone interview!
I am a former employee of Ingeus, working in the north for over two years on both the pathways to work (for long term incapacity claiments) and the work programme contracts.
Now I can't guarantee this is the same interview practice they use to day but when I interviewed for the post the prospective candidates were split into two groups which alternated activities. In the morning we undertook a group session where we had to work in pairs and think of a methaphor to desribe ourselves at work i.e 'I am like a dog with a bone' or ' I am like an band conductor'- we then had to explain why we thought this. Each candidate was then asked to reprt back to the group as a whole on another persons metaphor and explain why they had came up with theirs. Then in pairs we had to discuss our working styles and present back to the room and facilitators on how we could work together and where potential conflicts could arise. Finally, we were asked to imagine bizarre things like touching leather or smelling lemons and communicate the thoughts this generated. It was a little odd but designed to show how you work with others and your own self awareness.
The computer based portion was essentially a practical test and an insight into the job - you are given a client profile and you create a cv for them and search for jobs etc. You are then expected to discuss this and your reasoning in the formal interview, including some role play of a client / advisor interaction - they tend to play the part of quite a difficult client so prepare to be persuasive, empathetic and motivational.
The rest of the interview is typical of a comp based interview.
As for a little insight in to the role I can tell you that it is not as easy as they would lead you to believe! It can be extremely challenging with very difficult clients, demanding targets (the ability to meet these can often be affected by factors such as the clients on your caseload, time of year etc but these reasons are not accepted as valid by management), a lot of admin requirements and sometimes quite competetive colleagues. That said, the job pays well and gives you many, many transferrable skills. The rewards can be good too and 'gold performers'have been known to win trips abroad - the caveat to this though is that even gold performers are not safe from a bad spell and management can be quick to turn on those who have had a change in fortune. Advisors have a personal target and managers have the combined target of a team of advisors so when under pressure, they can be extremely demanding. There is also a bit of fAvouritism culture where you can see clearly who management prefer and who is likely to get promotion/concessions on targets etc.
I personally left the job because I no longer felt I was able to truly help people overcome their barriers to work due to the high targets and I felt there was a tendancy to focus on the easy clients rather than those who genuinely needed a lot of support and encouragement. I was also less than impressed by the treatment of those staff, particularly those on the probationary period, who were given very little support to make targets and were eventually fired (in some cases this even happended to advisors who had achieved gold level performance)
That said, the job can be extremely rewarding, particularly when you see a client overcome some major challanges and return to work with your help or watching clients confidence grow over a few months. You will make friends for life with the like minded staff andthere is always some time for fun and jokes. I think it is a job that is either for you or it isn't - and even when it is, the pressure of the role really does give it a shelf life!
This is just my experience- I wish you the best of luck with the rest of your application process and if you do get the job - all the best, I hope the job is right for you!0 -
