I got some 85% cocoa chocolate in aldi today, 99p for 5 x 25g bars I think either 12 or 14g per 100g. I used a little bar to make proper choc mousse today, had a dip and it's lots nicer than cocoa powder, for a treat.

I thought about the amount of time I have been spending doing this thread and then noticed that our beloved moneysaving hero has copyright over the posts. So I have decided today, that I will start my own blog on everyday low carbing over at Wordpress.

I'll finish off the latest low carb bargains over Easter as I got another bargains email from Morrisons today.

Hopefully, some of the 6000+ people who've looked at this thread so far, will add low carb bargains here and there to keep it going.

I am wondering whether there are other people out there, who, like me, low carb either for health reasons or as part of a weight loss plan ?

If so, maybe we could help each other find low carb products on special offer in supermarkets, discount and convenience stores, health food shops and online.

If interested please post and then we can have a go.

For curious non-low carbers, the generally accepted definition of a low carbohydrate food product is 10g carbs or less per 100g.

Generally this diet will exclude sugar, bread, pasta, pastry, rice, cakes, biscuits, sweets (unless sugar free), milk chocolate, crisps, crackers, whole/processed grains (eg quinoa, couscous, semolina, polenta) beans (baked, butter etc not runner), pulses such as lentils, and potatoes - but there are exceptions.

As you can imagine, navigating the 21st century supermarket is a nightmare.

That's why some help would be great !

Oh and if anyone knows if Young's haddock fish fingers are on sale anywhere please post - three cooked ones are only 10.2g :j

Hoping I'm not the sole low carber..

My girlfriend is on Atkins, and has been eating the 'two for £6' 'chosen by you' ASDA ready meals. They are really good, and she is always telling me how low they are in carbs! Have a look at them and see what you think. They're in the fresh section, (not frozen), there's chicken tandoori, pork belly and all sorts of other varieties.
