As I've got relatively low carb ice cream arriving Friday this will be my treat while I watch Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo online .. Hello to Jason Isaacs !!

    Cola float

1 ice cold can Diet Pepsi, Diet Cherry Coke or other sugar free cola
2 scoops ie approx 100ml lower carb ice cream eg Kelly's clotted cream ice cream or Wall's Classics Cornish vanilla ice cream

Pour cola into glass, add ice cream and straw.
    Enjoy

Since they don't convert to sugar in the body, the general answer is no. Some people (small minority) seem to find that the sweetness itself triggers a response from their brain that causes a sugar spike but that's easily discovered by testing with a blood glucose meter. Most people have no trouble with zero carb soft drinks.

Peter Attia MD has a blog entry about artificial sweeteners on his website https://www.waroninsulin.com

Edited to add.. on the Low Carb Diet Support thread on the health & beauty board, I've posted up low carb menu options for Burger King, McDonald's, Little Chef, Wimpy and Pizza Hut. Still got Harvester, Beefeater, Nando's, Pizza Express, Zizzi, Cafe Rouge, Wetherspoon's etc to get through !
