princesskitty - so jealous you were allowed Easter weekend! We really wanted that weekend but church wouldn't do it, understandable really though.
As for meal, ours is full sit down meal then buffet in evening. That's simply the package th venue offers so couldn't choose. We'll only be allowed one choice of meal as well, although as we're only having 45 guests I'm going to ask the question as to whether we could have a choice of two and people pre-order when they RSVP. I doubt it though, but I've never been to a wedding with a choice so I'm not fussed.
Our next thing is cars now, then rings, then appointments with venue and vicar in SeptOfficially Mrs B as of March 2013

Hello!
Hope it's ok for another newbie to join in - my OH and I got engaged just over 2 weeks ago and we have booked our wedding for Saturday 30 March 2013!!
So far, we have a registrar, the cars, the dress and a venue (well almost, just finalising some of the smaller details before signing on the dotted line!).
I am so excited to hear about what other Easter/spring brides are planning, I am utterly clueless as to colour schemes & decorations, although the venue we we have chosen is quite pretty so it won't need a huge amount of extra stuff, which is good, as the original budget has now doubled, although we are trying very hard to keep it under the 10k mark to avoid having to borrow ££ - no point starting married life in the red!
I love the diea about mini eggs - who doesn't love mini eggs?! - so might have to think of a way of incorporating those into the day. I love the idea of having a sweet table and, as people's favours, they would get a stripey paper bag with a personalised sticker and then they create their own favour from the sweet table, but not sure the older guests will like that so much. More thought required! I really like the idea of little jars/bags of mini eggs, so maybe that's the way forward with those. Just hope I don't get carried away eating them beforehand - there is no room for error now I've bought the dress!!
Good luck to everyone and enjoy the planning

I was worried that the church would say no to our wedding as it is Easter weekend but the vicar said it was fine and didn't mention it. I'm worried now - perhaps I should call him and remind him it's Easter just in case?!
tootmyboots - I know what you mean, it's hard to book a DJ when you haven't seen them in action. I booked a DJ that I met at a wedding fair and after having a long chat with him. I now just have to hope for the best!
I was very surprised that we could have options for our main course. In the past friends have told me that they've had to pay extra for giving people choice but our catering company are happy for us to give people a choice (they will tick an option before hand) at no extra cost so I was pleased about that. In the evening they also take food around to people on trays as well as having it on a table which I thought was a nice touch. They also set the tables up exactly as we want them with our centre pieces and favours etc, the lady at the company said I can go in as many times as I want to show her how I want the table set! I don't know if it's normal for them to do that or not but I was pleased.
Wow SparklyJB you've done all that in 2 weeks? You are good! You'll start to get ideas about colour schemes and decorations soon enough and what you like and don't like. The internet is a huge pot of information! I'm not sure if everyone else did things that quickly but it took me a while to get going! I got engaged last September. I'd love to hear people's engagement stories if you don't mind sharing? I got engaged at the top of Ben Nevis in Scotland. It was a complete surprise and I couldn't think of a better proposal for us. We love Scotland so it's special to us, and we love getting out in the great outdoors so a proposal at the top of a mountain was great. My boyfriend didn't eat beforehand though as he was so nervous (unbeknown to me) so he only just made it up there! He forced himself up there in the end as he said it would have been rubbish proposing halfway up a mountain! :rotfl:0 -
I'll share mine too - we got engaged Christmas Day 2010. I had no idea either, we'd talked about it being our future but I had no idea it would be then. My OH was so calm and we had breakfast and opened all our other presents first then he brought out one last one and there it was!

I just emailed my venue and asked if they could recommend anyone. So they sent me a link and the price list made me laugh. They have one of those tick sheets to show what you get for each price level. Entry level is £200, then for £300 it is ticked as "High Quality sound system". I feel like ringing up and asking if the £200 is low quality then? LOL.
No proposal here by the way, we had just had child number one of 3, when he said "shall we think about getting engaged then?" I have complained many times that I have never had a proposal, but I have three children from him (aged 4,3 and 1) so he has given me a lot he he0 -
just a bump up
we're meeting our vicar next week to start deciding details and I spoke to our reception venue and they said for our number of guests they're willing to have 2 menu choiceswhich we're really happy about!

Bumping again!! Less than 7 months to go!
We went to see our Reverend last night for our first formal meeting and have loads of homework to do in terms of choosing ceremony details, prayers and hymns. I had no idea how much choice you get! If anyone else is a church wedding I'd recommend going soon so you can get thinking
Anyone else got updates??Officially Mrs B as of March 2013

Holding this thread up on my own a bit at the moment!
It's 6 months and 3 days until ours now - eek!!
Managed to get my sister a bridesmaid dress and some fabric for a sash for the little bridesmaid's one (which will just be a highstreet dress). Dessy in the end so insanely expensive but as I'm only having those two I decided I'd treat mysister, and she did look amazing.
Also booked a car, just the one but as we're all very local it will do 4/5 trips for us.
Next - finalise guest list, make invitations, choose wedding rings and keep prompting the lovely groom to go suit shopping!!!Officially Mrs B as of March 2013

I've bought my wedding dress from a factory outlet and it is hanging in my wardrobe - so hard to find a local seamstress/alteration person though when most seem to be attached to wedding dress shops!
I have also organised the flowers and asked my uncle to give me away.0 -
oh and we are meeting the vicar in October0
