Wow, everyone has so much more done than me!

I was planning on waiting till Christmas sales to buy things cheap (Wedding rings, bridesmaid dresses etc) but now I'm concerned I'm leaving it all a bit last minute _pale_

Did my invite mock up a couple of days ago and it looks really good!! I'm so pleased!! We're going to send them out pretty early (late Oct maybe) so as to avoid them getting lost amongst xmas cards.

BM dress shopping with my sister this week as well :)

  • Can I join in please? We are getting married on 16th March 2013. So far I have paid a deposit for the venue, booked the church (still need to see the vicar) and just about sorted a photographer and hair and make up. Not bad when it hasn't even been booked for two weeks yet! I am very overwhelmed by all the planning as I haven't got any parents to help me!
  • Hi all, I posted on here then went on holiday!

GemmieWho, i'm sure you can leave some things to the sales. I think people get things sorted straight away so that they feel organised, but I don't see why you can't wait until the sales - i'm sure there will be lots of choice still.

cats2012, what is your invite mock up like? I'm glad you're happy with it! Like I said i've got the bits and bobs to do mine but i'm worried as things don't tend to look how I see them in my head!:o How did the bridesmaid dress shopping go? I really need to get my bridesmaids together to do that!

tootsmyboots, you're getting married on my mums birthday! I don't live near my parents or my OH's parents or any of my bridesmaids so sometimes I feel overwhelmed too, but don't worry it will all come together. We can help each other through on here!

It's a purple pocketfold, with yellow as a backing then ivory paper with the actual text on. Then yellow flowers as embelishments. Really glad as I got all the bits from different websites!!

As for BM shopping - less successful. We did all the highstreet shops in the hope of finding something but none had the right colour, or even close. So we're heading to proper "bridesmaid" shops next week. Although after looking the prices don't actually differ that much! Only have one adult bridesmaid to dress though so as long as it's the right colour it's pretty much up to her on style etc so no arguments there.

Anyone else with news? My friends mum has agreed to do our flowers which is amazing news :D

  • Ahhh cats2012 your invites sound great! Lovely spring colours, perfect for a March wedding. I want to get started on mine but can you believe the only thing stopping me at the moment is i'm not sure what glue to use! I'm going to be sticking twine, paper and lace onto card and i'm not sure what's good for all of those things, especially the lace! I think I just need a trip to Hobbycraft to get sorted.

Half of me is looking forward to BM dress shopping and the other half is dreading it! I'm worried as I think there will be loads of dresses not none in the colour I want which is dusky pink. I've found loads of bright pink dresses but it really isn't the colour i'm looking for. I must put a date in the diary for this, it's another one of those things that I keep saying i'm going to do and don't get around to it!

That's amazing you have someone to do your flowers! I'm biting the bullet and doing my own - I hope I don't live to regret that decision! At the moment i'm not too stressed as I want my flowers to look like they've just been picked and not too perfect, so i'm sure i'll manage that! :)

I really wanted to make little pots of jam as favours, for me it would be perfect as everyone knows i'm a bit of a jam and cake maker plus we're getting married in the country, but obviously strawberries are out of season at that time of the year. So now i'm trying to think what I can do. Is everyone else having favours? If so do you know what you're doing? x

princesskitty29 I understand what you mean about favours, it's a tricky one!

As ours is the week before easter I'm having little birds nests with Easter Eggs in and a paper bird acting as the placename sitting on them.

Using etsy and ebay they've cost me no more than £1 each :)

  • Yes mine is Easter weekend so I had toyed with the idea of giving a little jar of mini eggs with a pretty ribbon bow around it. I'm still not decided though! We're having afternoon tea items (small sandwiches and scones) at our reception instead of canapes so I wanted to do something to tie it all in together when we got to the wedding breakfast. I'm sure i'll think of something!

Have you guys decided on what food you're having and whether it's a sit down meal or buffet? I originally wanted something a bit less formal than a sit down meal but the logistics wouldn't work so we are having a sit down meal. We've got a tasting session in October so we'll have to decide what we'd like to taste before then. We're going to have a chicken dish, fish dish and vegetarian diash so people have a bit of choice. Because we're having afternoon tea at the reception we have decided not to have a starter, but i'm not sure if that's a good idea or not?!
  • We have got the full sit down meal, which will be fun with our own three young children, plus a few more belonging to our friends! It's nice that you are allowed a choice of main courses. We have to choose just one plus one veggie option.

This week I have booked my photographer, florist and hair/make-up person and I am getting prices in for a DJ.

How do you pick a dj without seeing them in action LOL!?
