Considering your current CV situation the work program might actually work for you. The other people on this thread who have been enrolled in it are reasonably well trained with extensive CVs and don't have anything particularly easy to target. You they could put on computer courses, give interview and confidence training etc. and transform what you do know into something worthwhile.
You say you are painfully shy and did a film & TV degree? Why on earth would you do that? Thats the one industry that you can guarantee that "painfully shy" people should avoid like the plague!
If they actually send you on interview skills courses and, say, computer courses then perhaps you will be capable of getting a job and being a productive member of society.
In the meantime don't bother trying for disability - "painfully shy" doesn't get a look in and I'm frankly surprised that the person mentioned above with "depression" hasn't been chucked off of it yet. Yes, depression can be a real issue and mean you can't work but the vibe I get from that poster suggests that isn't the case with that person - or at least they believe that isn't the case.
Get off your sofa and go do some volunteering. The only way you will ever become anything except "painfully shy" is to do something about. Go to the work programme and let them help you.
FYI - I know of two people who from the work programme have got good roles they wouldn't have otherwise and they love- 1 prop building with practically free reign and another doing something design related.0

I've just read the whole thread, and tbh, I can't believe what I'm reading.
I have a degree and managed to get a FT job after being on JSA. You don't WANT to work, that's the problem, plain and simple. My degree has nothing to do with what I'm doing now (OK, so I get asked to check if various instruments are in tune, but other than that...). You say you're "painfully shy", yet aren't doing anything to remedy that. Yes, the work programme sucks, but it's either that or lose your benefits and live on fresh air. The Job Centre seem to be doing things to help you find a job, yet you're reluctant to co-operate. It seems that you're not much better than people who constantly have kid after kid and claim everything possible while sitting on their @rse watching telly all day."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

Nope they said they would call them all to see if they have any jobs but I have told them do they not think I haven't already done that. And besides who the hell can come up with a list of companies they want to work for? I said to the woman 'anyone' and she laughed. I said I am serious 'anyone who wants to give me a job'!The_ICT_Engineer wrote: »I suspect they just want you to supply a list of companies, So they can then spam them with your details.
I listed 23 companies in the industry I have the most experience in and listed for them the websites, company adresses along with phone numbers and contact email adresses and hey guess what? I have heard nothing from the WP so I guess either they have done nothing with the list (and I have a 2nd list ready for them with 45 other companies listed) or they have had no joy!!0

You are assuming that anything the OP has said is true. Personally, having read both threads, I think the OP is trying to wind people up by being deliberately obtuse.0

Yeah I don't want a job tbh. I wrote on here hopeing someone could tell me how long you have to be signed off before your claim can start again - then it would be another year before I would have to go to Work Placement.
I would rather just hide away than have a job.0

My degree was not the practical side of film and tv - just the reading and writing essays side. I did it because it sounded interesting that's all.
I liked scriptwriting but that is not really a viable job is it.
 Thanks though.0

you don't even want to get me started there!! lol It will fail I am sure of it. I have has only ONE appointment since being transfered to in in July 2011 as they lost me in their system. I wrote a formal letter of complaint and they blames it on the staff I saw no longer working with them (they got the sack) and the system being re looked at etc.
They have told me they can't help me.
How old are you and what job would you want ideally if you could have any?0
