Would it be reasonable to claim £4.75 to buy a meal for being away from home for more than 5 hours?

I wouldn't spend that amount in a whole day. With the deepest of respect seriously get a grip and take a packed lunch with you. You sound like someone that expects everything handed to them. Take responsibility for yourself..don't expect the state to provide everything for you.

I am not trying to insult you or annoy you but open your eyes and see this question through other peoples eyes.

Seriously? Seeing people eat sandwiches is a regular occurrence to me. Sit on a park bench and eat it. Don't see why you are so insistent on getting a free meal. Life isn't free.

I've never seen anyone eating in the high street or in a shopping centre when Greggs is nearby.

You'd be hard pushed to see someone NOT eating in our town and it's usually something they've just bought from Greggs.

That's your own reflection,:D, well it should be, and think twice about the word "reflection" ;)

I agree I should have said:
I've never seen anyone eating from a lunch box in the high street or in a shopping centre when Greggs is nearby or Pret-a-Manger.

So buy yourself a sausage roll then. I cant believe that you want to claim 4.75 for a meal.
  • Looking at your old posts - for someone whos trying to stay supported because of agraphobia and social anxiety then I would have thought the last thing youd want to do is walk (with your 'carer') through a busy area to enjoy the experience of a cafe meal or pret-a-manger... These are pretty serious afflictions for some, and when Im bad Id be far too worried about the travelling (cant handle public transport even at my best times) and having to get through a meeting with someone who doesnt know me and bear my soul so to speak. You dont seem to have problems going in to your local bank to make over the counter withdrawals and complaining about your banks daily limit policy either. For someone so fragile as to miss his appointment with someone from MIND who give up their valuable time to help genuine people in need because their dog barked and threw them into a state of confusion is at odds with the capabilities and tenacity you possess in pursuing something if it is to your advantage.... I hope you get a free meal out of it and a lovely day out with your mate (sorry - carer). And then use the impressive interpersonal skills and determination you have in abundance to get a JOB!

Some people use the term agoraphobia and social anxiety so freely. I used to suffer from both things and I thought mine were mild but compared to some of these people, I was practically housebound!

Agree with the other poster, too. Buy a sausage roll, pretty sure you can get 2 for a pound in some places. 4.75 seems like someone wants a free large big mac meal!!! :rotfl:

I have! If out for the day we always take a packed lunch and sit on a bench to eat it in a shopping centre or the street. :o
